Kidney Stones
UrinaryKidney StonesAlso known as Renal Calculi, Pyelonephritis

Kidney infection, in Aajonus's framework, is not a pathological process that must be suppressed or eliminated. It is an active detoxification event, a process in which toxins that have been discharged through the kidneys cause irritation to kidney tissue, and that irritation may in turn trigger a localized tissue detoxification response. He described this explicitly in response to a client writing to him about severe right-sided pain with drastically reduced urination:

Kidney Infection

Kidney infection, in Aajonus's framework, is not a pathological process that must be suppressed or eliminated. It is an active detoxification event, a process in which toxins that have been discharged through the kidneys cause irritation to kidney tissue, and that irritation may in turn trigger a localized tissue detoxification response. He described this explicitly in response to a client writing to him about severe right-sided pain with drastically reduced urination:

"It's probably not a kidney detoxification. Probably toxins that have discharged through the kidneys causing irritation to the kidneys. However, that may have caused some kidney tissue detoxification."

Aajonus Vonderplanitz

In this framing, the bacteria present during a kidney infection are not the enemy. They are janitorial organisms, they are there to clean up damaged tissue, dissolve toxic matter, and facilitate healing. Suppressing them with antibiotics destroys the very agents responsible for repair.

The kidneys are described as having one primary, elegant function in a healthy body: to filter excess fluid out of the bloodstream for the purpose of regulating body temperature. When you are cold, the kidneys pull water out of the blood to thicken it, thereby retaining heat. When you are hot, they retain water in the blood to thin it and cool the body. That is their sovereign job. The fact that they also filter out toxins from cooked food, supplements, and environmental poisons is a secondary, compensatory, and damaging role they are forced into by the modern diet and lifestyle.

Kidney Stones

Kidney stones are crystallized, solidified deposits that form in the kidneys. Aajonus defines them precisely:

"KIDNEY STONES are crystallized cooked vegetable-fat resins and crystallized hydrogenated fats and oils, and mineral salts that collect and form into clusters and clumps in the kidneys."

Aajonus Vonderplanitz

He adds further specification from his direct analysis of stones:

"I have had many kidney stones analyzed. Most were composed of food additives such as flavor and fragrance oils. Many were composed of crystallized oils from syrups and candies."

Aajonus Vonderplanitz

And in his newsletters, he adds the concept of "cauterized minerals":

"Analysis of stones reveals that they are an amalgam of various cauterized minerals of all sorts. The hardest are those dense with heavy metals. All people who develop stones, develop them from numerous cauterized minerals and resins."

Aajonus Vonderplanitz

His own bladder stone, the largest ever documented according to the urologists he visited, was composed primarily of thimerosal (mercury) from tetanus vaccinations received in infancy and childhood. The laboratory report stated the black particles within the stone were "mercury dense."

The distinction Aajonus draws is critical: it is not the minerals in raw food, raw dairy, or raw meat that cause stones. It is the cauterized, cooked, processed form of minerals, those that have been so chemically altered by heat or industrial processing that the body cannot utilize or eliminate them through normal channels, that crystallize and collect.

"Raw fooders who don't take supplements don't get kidney stones. None of the tribes ever heard of a kidney or bladder stone or any kind of a stone, liver, gallbladder, wherever. Again, it's our toxic society creating those stones."

Aajonus Vonderplanitz

He cites the Maasai, the Fulani, and other raw dairy and raw meat-consuming tribal peoples as evidence: they had no history of stones of any kind. Therefore, it cannot be the concentration of minerals in raw dairy or raw meats.

Gallstones as the Same Phenomenon

Gallstones are described as the same type of formation, merely occurring in the gallbladder instead of the kidneys:

"GALLSTONES are deposits of crystallized resins and minerals, the same as kidney stones but combined with bile in the gall bladder."

Aajonus Vonderplanitz

Urethra problems, in turn, most often stem from kidney or gallbladder stones that scrape and irritate the urethra as they pass through it.

Root Cause

Root Cause

The Fundamental Cause: Cooked, Processed, and Adulterated Minerals

The root cause of kidney stones, in Aajonus's framework, is the consumption of cooked foods, processed foods, food additives, supplements, hydrogenated oils, and vaccinations. These inputs introduce minerals, resins, and heavy metals into the body in a form that has been so altered, so "cauterized", that the body cannot process them through normal metabolic pathways.

When these substances enter the body, they are supposed to be eliminated through three primary pathways: the skin (perspiration), the digestive tract (bowels), and urination. The skin is supposed to handle approximately 90% of all waste. The digestive tract handles approximately 10%. Urination is described as the least desirable elimination pathway for toxins because the kidneys are too sensitive an organ to be burdened with heavy chemical loads:

"You don't want to send toxins out the kidneys because the kidney is a very important organ. It has one job. It's not supposed to filter out toxins."

Aajonus Vonderplanitz

When the skin is blocked, particularly by hydrogenated oils and fried foods which create a plastic-like barrier in the connective tissue, and when bowel elimination is insufficient, the body is forced to route these cauterized minerals and crystallized resins through the kidneys and bladder. There they collect and, over time, crystallize and grow, exactly as mineral crystals grow in the earth to form geodes:

"So that can happen from any debased mineral substance in the body. So anything can cause stones. It's just where your body decides to dump them. Does it dump them into the intestines like it does most people, and out the bowels? Or does it dump into the urinary tract? Not a good place for it to do it, but where the body does it will kill a lot of people."

Aajonus Vonderplanitz

He explicitly draws the analogy to geode formation:

"Outside of the human body, in the ground, geodes are all growth things. You start off with a few minerals, and they'll grow into a huge geode that can be this big. And that's a growth process. And that's one thing that Pasteur was big on, was documenting the growth of crystals."

Aajonus Vonderplanitz

Once a small crystalline seed is established, other cauterized minerals are attracted to it and the stone grows over years and even decades.

Vaccines as a Specific Cause

Aajonus identified his own bladder stone's origin as the mercury (thimerosal) from tetanus injections received as an infant and adolescent. He stated that his body, unable to eliminate this neurotoxic heavy metal through safer pathways, routed it to the bladder, where it began forming a stone from approximately age two or three. The laboratory report confirmed the stone's core was "mercury dense" and black "like steel." The urologist described it as so dense it was "almost like metal" and its core was the size of a large marble. It took over one hour and forty-five minutes with a laser to disintegrate.

"Most of that stone was thimerosal from vaccines. All those tetra shots and vaccines when I was a child."

Aajonus Vonderplanitz

Aajonus explained:

"Obviously to me, my bladder is where my body tried to rid itself of the neuro-toxic mercury and aluminum from vaccines. Probably because it had developed since infancy, my body simply acclimated by creating calloused bladder tissue and preventing pain."

Aajonus Vonderplanitz

The Vegetarian Connection

Aajonus described a patient who had been a vegetarian for 32 years and who lived largely on soy chips. This person developed bladder stones from the "mineral concentration" and the toxicity inherent in heavily processed vegetable sources, particularly vegetable oils in their cooked and industrially processed forms:

"He lived on soy chips. There was mineral concentration there and the toxicity involved. So he was detoxing that all those years and it was causing crystals. Again, vegetable oils. Beans, you have a vegetable oil. Hardly crystallized. So it kept collecting."

Aajonus Vonderplanitz

The patient had small stones continuously forming, eventually requiring laser removal.

Leaky Gut as a Contributing Factor

Aajonus noted that leaky gut syndrome could also contribute to stone formation, since when intestinal walls are compromised, improperly processed minerals and fats can enter the bloodstream in fragmented, unusable forms:

"Can that cause kidney stones also? Oh, so many things can cause stones. That's from any cooked or processed food. You have a fat that's broken away from minerals, and the minerals collect."

Aajonus Vonderplanitz

Supplements as a Cause

Beyond food, Aajonus specifically identified mineral supplements as a major cause of kidney stones:

"A lot of minerals are getting sent to the kidneys from what? Cooked foods, processed foods, people who take supplements. They get kidney stones."

Aajonus Vonderplanitz

Why This Happens

Why This Happens

Kidney infection and stones fit across several of Aajonus's philosophical domains simultaneously:

Root Cause / Cooked Food: The primary cause is the consumption of cooked, processed, hydrogenated, and supplemented foods, foods in which the natural fats, minerals, and proteins have been chemically altered by heat into forms the body cannot recognize, utilize, or safely eliminate. This is the foundational causal layer.

Terrain Theory: The kidneys themselves are not diseased; the terrain, the body's internal chemical environment, has been polluted by an accumulation of unprocessable substances. The kidneys respond as best they can, routing waste through pathways they were not primarily designed for.

Detoxification: Kidney infections are explicitly characterized as detoxification events. The bacteria present are janitorial organisms engaged in the detoxification of irritated and damaged kidney tissue. The pain, the blood in the urine, the urgency, these are all signs of active detoxification, not disease.

Microbes: Bacteria in the urine, "infection," pyuria (pus in urine), none of these are the disease itself. They are the body's response to toxicity and tissue damage. Antibiotics that wipe out these organisms destroy the janitorial workforce and leave damaged tissue without cleanup crews, leading to chronic disease.

Sovereignty: Aajonus was emphatic about not submitting to the medical establishment's narrative around kidney infection and stones. He personally refused x-rays (insisting on ultrasound only), refused antibiotics in his IV and post-operatively (when he had his bladder stone removed), instructed his urologist specifically about what could and could not be administered during anesthesia, and declined to follow up with prescribed Cipro.

"Congratulations. Cipro causes HUS (hemolytic-uremic syndrome), that is, dissolving kidney disease. How wonderful of him to want you to damage your kidney to get rid of a detoxification of the damaged tissue in your bladder."

Symptoms Reframed

Symptoms Reframed

Pain in the Middle Back Radiating to Lower Abdomen

This is a direct result of stones causing physical pressure and friction as they collect, crystallize, and, when dissolved or passed, scrape against kidney and urinary tract tissue. It is not a sign of "disease" in the conventional sense; it is a sign of the body attempting to process and eliminate accumulated crystalline debris.

Increased Urination, Sometimes Containing Blood or Pus

Blood in the urine during kidney stone activity indicates that the stone fragments are scraping and irritating the walls of the kidney, ureter, bladder, or urethra. Aajonus was explicit: if there is blood in the urine, it is best to stay off the feet and remain sedentary. The blood is not pathological in the disease sense, it is a consequence of physical friction between hard crystalline material and soft tissue.

Pus (white blood cells, broken-down tissue, bacterial byproduct) is evidence of the body's immune and janitorial systems actively working on damaged tissue.

Sharp Pains in the Kidneys

These indicate that stones are either growing, shifting, or beginning to pass or dissolve. They reflect the physical reality of hard crystalline material in a soft tissue environment.

Nausea and Vomiting

These are the body's systemic responses to the chemical and physical stress being placed on the kidneys and surrounding organs. Vomiting, in Aajonus's general framework, is a legitimate and important elimination pathway, in this context it may represent the body's attempt to reduce systemic toxic load while the kidneys are under stress.

Slow, Difficult, or Painful Urination

Aajonus described his own experience as having slow urination, taking two to three minutes to start and two to three minutes to finish, from the age of two onward, without knowing why. This was, he explained, the stone growing in his bladder and the bladder wall thickening around it. He adapted by lifting one leg (like a dog) to shift the stone's position and allow urine to flow around it. This is a direct mechanical symptom of a physical obstruction.

"Those are all signs of kidney and/or bladder stones but without the pain that normally accompanies them."

Aajonus Vonderplanitz

He described urination taking up to six minutes total, four and a half minutes to begin, one and a half minutes to empty, throughout his childhood and adult life.

Feeling the Need to Urinate Urgently

This urgency often accompanies the irritation caused by toxic discharge through the kidney and bladder walls. It is the body's signal that tissue is under stress and trying to flush the offending material out.

No Pain Until Late Stage

Aajonus's case is instructive: his bladder stone grew for fifty-six to fifty-eight years without causing significant pain. The bladder wall had thickened to four inches (normal is much thinner) and the stone was described by the urologist as the largest ever seen in experience and literature. Yet Aajonus had no excruciating pain until the final three days before medical diagnosis. The body had adapted completely. He noted:

"The assistant said that I should have been experiencing pain at least 3 years ago and that it would take a long time for a stone to get that large."

Aajonus Vonderplanitz

The absence of pain does not indicate the absence of stones. Slow urination, difficulty starting, thin stream, these are all early and long-term signs.

Food Protocol

Food Protocol

Kidney Infection Protocol

Mineral Water with Raw Lime Juice: On the day of infection, Aajonus recommended drinking a large glass of good mineral water with 3 tablespoons of fresh raw lime juice. This can be drunk as a combined mixture or separately.

Raw Vegetable Juice with Beet Juice: Alternatively or additionally: ½ cup raw fresh vegetable juice (which includes 1 ounce of beet juice specifically) mixed with 3 ounces of good mineral water, taken ½ hour before eating. This combination "has nurtured and soothed the kidneys."

Rationale: Raw lime and beet juices and fresh raw corn on the cob regulate bacteria levels so that infection does not become excessive.

If Blood in Urine: Stay off the feet and remain sedentary.

For Severe Kidney Damage/Infection with Limited Capacity: When the kidneys are heavily burdened by toxins passing through them, the priority is protecting the kidney tissue with fats:

"You need to sip cream often or milk or have honey and butter just to make sure you're getting fats constantly like every 20 to 30 minutes to make sure there's no damage."

Aajonus Vonderplanitz

And even in cases where eating is nearly impossible:

"I don't care if it's that much honey and butter. Every 10 to 15 minutes just a little bean sized amount every 10 to 15 minutes just to have something in there to protect you."

Aajonus Vonderplanitz

For Severe Cases, Smoothies over Water: In response to a client with severe right-sided kidney pain and minimal urination despite drinking Gerolsteiner mineral water all night, Aajonus advised:

"Better to drink smoothies with many nutrients than nutrientless water."

Aajonus Vonderplanitz

Grapefruit Juice for Kidneys: > "The grapefruit is the best thing you can do for the kidney."

Kidney Stone Dissolving Protocols

Aajonus offered two primary formulas, which he recommended alternating, one formula one day, the other the next day, until the stones are dissolved.

---

Formula 1: Pineapple-Lemon-Vinegar-Coconut Cream Blend

  • ½ cup raw unripe pineapple
  • 1 tablespoon raw unpasteurized apple cider vinegar
  • 3 tablespoons fresh raw lemon juice
  • 4–6 tablespoons raw coconut cream

These ingredients are blended together. This formula "helps gradually dissolve kidney stones."

---

Formula 2: Lemon/Lime–Beet–Carrot–Coconut Cream

  • 6–8 tablespoons fresh raw lemon or lime juice
  • 6 tablespoons fresh raw beet juice
  • 2 ounces fresh raw carrot juice
  • 4–6 tablespoons raw coconut cream

This formula is to be taken 2–3 hours before sleep and "gradually dissolves kidney stones."

---

Alternating the Formulas:

"To dissolve and remove any kind of stones, I suggest implementing my Kidney Stone formulas recommended in my book WWTL. Alternate the formula recommendations, that is, one day one and the next day the other until stone(s) is/are dissolved."

Aajonus Vonderplanitz

---

Adding Naturally Sparkling Mineral Water:

"Also, I suggest adding 2 ounces of naturally sparkling mineral water to each formula. The natural hydrogen peroxide effect of natural carbonation helps to dissolve stones."

Aajonus Vonderplanitz

---

For Kidney or Urinary Bladder Stones Specifically, Temperature and Speed of Consumption:

"For kidney or urinary bladder stones, I suggest that you warm the formulas and drink them fast so that they are delivered to kidney and bladder quickly."

Aajonus Vonderplanitz

(Note: For liver and gallbladder stones, he said the opposite, sip the warm formulas slowly.)

---

Boosting the Formula in the First Few Days:

"For the first few days, you may add an extra tablespoon of raw apple cider vinegar to those formulas to increase stone-dissolving processes."

Aajonus Vonderplanitz

However, he issued an important caution:

"Too much vinegar for too long can cause mineral deficiencies. Walk the mineral-balance line but do not cross it. If crossed, usually pain increases exponentially."

Aajonus Vonderplanitz

If mineral deficiency pain begins (pain increasing significantly), you can recover fairly quickly by reducing or eliminating the extra vinegar.

---

Bladder Stone Removal Remedy (Mechanical + Nutritional):

Aajonus also described a physical technique to accompany the stone removal formula for bladder stones specifically:

1. Begin at the pubic bone 2. Press as deeply as possible (without creating too much pain) with the fingers 3. Slowly move fingers toward the navel about 5 inches 4. Do this 10–15 times 5. Roll onto the stomach and roll abdominal muscles up and down until you must urinate 6. Try to hold the urine until absolutely cannot hold it any longer 7. Holding urine forces the bladder to expand as much as possible, allowing the ingredients to begin dissolving the stone(s) 8. Also allows dissolved stone fragments to flow outward with urine upon urination 9. Use a jar to catch the urine and check for stone fragments

---

Bladder Stone Removal Remedy #2 (Full Formula):

Items needed: - 1 hot water bottle - 1 glass jar, 32 ounces to hold all ingredients - 1 quart Sports Formula

Stone Removal Formula Ingredients: - 4 ounces of olive oil - 7 ounces of apple cider vinegar - 2 ounces of lemon juice - 7 ounces [of additional specified liquid, note: source text was cut off]

---

Prevention: Daily Fat Consumption

"Eating at least ½ cup of raw fat (for instance, avocado or unsalted raw butter) daily usually prevents large kidney stones."

Aajonus Vonderplanitz

---

Sleep-Time Kidney Support Formula

Most stones are formed during sleep. To prevent this, Aajonus recommended a formula taken two to three hours before sleep:

"Two to three hours before sleep, abstaining from solid food and drinking a mixture of 1 cup warm raw milk with 4 tablespoons raw cream and 2 tablespoons unheated honey relaxes kidneys during sleep."

Aajonus Vonderplanitz

---

When Stones Are Being Dissolved, Bed Rest and Nourishment Protocol

"When stones are being dissolved, there may be some discomfort. Drinking plenty of raw milk to which you have added 4–6 tablespoons raw cream and 2 tablespoons unheated honey per 28 ounces of raw milk, and staying in bed for 1–2 days allows the body to use all of its accessible nutrients and energies for dissolving stones, making the process easier."

Aajonus Vonderplanitz

---

Urethra Infection/Pain (From Stones Passing)

Most urethra problems stem from kidney or gallbladder stones that scrape and irritate the urethra as they pass. The kidney stone protocols (all of the above) apply directly.

Additionally, long hot baths were described as helpful for relief. In the case of James, who suffered for many weeks with urethra pain from passing stones and had only a shower (no bathtub), his pain was not fully resolved until he switched to a raw milk only diet:

"Finally after many weeks, he began eating a raw milk diet only. Within 24 hours, all of his pain subsided."

Aajonus Vonderplanitz

Aajonus's recommendation for the raw milk only approach for urethra pain:

"I suggest adding 4–6 tablespoons raw cream and 2 tablespoons unheated honey to every 28 ounces of milk."

Aajonus Vonderplanitz

---

For Kidney Problems (Structural Damage), General Diet Support

For a person with significant dead tissue in both kidneys (described in a workshop context as approximately one-third dead tissue in the left kidney and approximately 50% dead on the right):

"Usually just doing the diet takes care of that. There's nothing special for the kidneys."

Aajonus Vonderplanitz

He prescribed: - Primarily fats and proteins - A little juice - A cup of juice in the morning, then a half cup, then a cup again, then a half cup before bed (with the caveat that with damaged kidneys, juice before bed may cause nighttime urination) - Pineapple occasionally, but not a lot, because it can cause emotional reactions while it is needed to break up scar tissue around the glands and kidneys - The standard 8 ounces carrot juice, 2 ounces coconut cream, 1 ounce dairy cream, tablespoon lemon juice, tablespoon honey (if desired)

---

For Kidney Problems with Kidney and Bladder Infections, Stepmother Case

For a woman with one functional kidney, one shriveled kidney, recurring fever and kidney/bladder infections, pallor, and white cottage-cheese vaginal discharge:

"It would be best if she ate lots of unsalted raw butter with honey, raw eggs and raw meat. A little pineapple once in a while might be helpful; but, normally, refrain from high-carbohydrate foods."

Aajonus Vonderplanitz

---

For Bladder Infections Preventing Recurrence

"For people prone to bladder infections, drinking 4 ounces of raw fresh beet juice twice weekly, or 4 ounces fresh raw lime juice blended with 2 tablespoons unheated honey added to 4 ounces of good mineral water keeps bacteria levels low and helps detoxify the bladder a little every day so that discomforting, exorbitant infection is rarely, if ever, necessary."

Aajonus Vonderplanitz

Immediate Relief During Bladder Infection: - Drinking raw fresh grapefruit juice throughout the day - Eating the butter/honey mixture every ½ hour for as long as it takes to calm the bladder

---

For Kidney Toxicity/Irritation with Limited Urination

When someone has drunk Gerolsteiner (or other mineral water) through the night but is still barely urinating despite severe pain:

"Better to drink smoothies with many nutrients than nutrientless water."

Aajonus Vonderplanitz

The implication is that nutrient-dense liquids, raw milk, raw cream, raw honey, raw eggs in blended form, are superior to plain water even when the kidneys are compromised, because they provide protective fats and biological minerals that buffer the kidney tissue rather than simply diluting the acid load.

What to Avoid

What to Avoid

  • i

Aajonus was categorically opposed to antibiotics for kidney infections and for post-stone-removal "infections." He described Cipro specifically as causing HUS, hemolytic-uremic syndrome, which is a kidney-destroying disease:

  • ii

    > "Congratulations. Cipro causes HUS (hemolytic-uremic syndrome), that is, dissolving kidney disease. How wonderful of him to want you to damage your kidney to get rid of a detoxification of the damaged tissue in your bladder."

  • iii

He also recounted a case in which a little girl infected with E. coli O157:H7 was given Cipro and died, not from the E. coli, but from the kidney damage the antibiotic itself caused. He pointed out that only the two children who received antibiotics in that outbreak suffered kidney damage (HUS), while the others did not.

  • iv

After a client's bladder stone surgical procedure, the urologist sent the client home with a free supply of Cipro. Aajonus's instruction: do not take it. The "infection" noted in the post-surgical urine test was simply the body detoxifying the damage done to bladder tissue by stone fragments (which had a "sandpaper effect" as they were washed out). This is not a pathological infection requiring antibiotics.

  • v

    > "Do not ever take antibiotics again."

  • vi
    The Rationale:

  • vii

    > "If you've got bladder infections, why do you have a bladder infection? Some toxicity is getting into cellular walls of the bladder. It's not a bladder condition. It is a dietary condition, an environmental condition of poisons getting into those tissues. Antibiotics are not going to help you. You've got an infection in there. Those are janitors. Why do you want to wipe out the janitors? There's a janitor trying to make your bladder well, your kidneys well. Why would you destroy your janitors?"

  • viii

Aajonus consistently refused x-rays for urinary tract diagnosis. He insisted on ultrasound only. He did this for himself when he finally went to the urologist, and he had advised at least one prior patient to find a urologist who uses ultrasound rather than x-rays. He mentions this specifically in his personal narrative and his instructions to his client.

  • ix

These are the primary causes of kidney stones, and therefore must be avoided. Specifically: - Cooked vegetable fats and resins - Hydrogenated fats and oils - Food additives (flavor and fragrance oils, particularly from syrups and candies) - Mineral supplements in any form - Vaccines (specifically mercury/thimerosal-containing vaccines)

  • x

    > "There is nothing on my Primal Diet™ that causes minerals to collect, and there are no resin-based foods on the diet except propolis. Some people who eat more than a little propolis could cause some stones to develop because propolis is tree resin. Tree resin does not digest well and has a tendency to collect in some people."

  • xi

Plain water, including mineral water, is not the ideal solution even during kidney distress. While Gerolsteiner mineral water is referenced positively in kidney stone formulas (2 ounces of naturally sparkling mineral water), drinking large quantities of plain water is questioned. Plain water dilutes stomach acids, destroys beneficial bacteria in the intestines, and floods the kidneys with fluid they must work hard to process:

  • xii

    > "If we drink water? We dilute the acids and destroy the bacteria in our bodies, in our intestines, in our stomach. It gets absorbed into and goes to the kidneys. Of course, it goes a lot into the bloodstream... And the kidneys are really fighting hard to dump all of this excess fluid."

  • xiii

Better to drink raw milk smoothies with nutrients during kidney distress.

  • xiv

While apple cider vinegar is a key ingredient in both stone-dissolving formulas, and an extra tablespoon can be added for the first few days, prolonged or excessive use causes mineral deficiencies:

  • xv

    > "Too much vinegar for too long can cause mineral deficiencies. Walk the mineral-balance line but do not cross it. If crossed, usually pain increases exponentially."

  • xvi

While not directly about kidney stones, Aajonus was asked whether the tonsils could be connected to kidney problems (as a doctor had suggested to one client). He affirmed that the tonsils are important protective glands that filter toxicity and protect the brain, eyes, and ears, and removing them would be counterproductive. The client's stepmother's kidney/bladder infections were framed as being about overall body toxicity, not about the tonsils being the origin of the problem.

  • xvii

Since most stones form during sleep, Aajonus recommended abstaining from solid food in the two to three hours before sleep, during which time the kidney-relaxing formula of warm raw milk, raw cream, and unheated honey should be taken instead.

  • xviii

Recovery Timeline

Recovery Timeline

Kidney Infection

Kidney infections respond relatively quickly with the correct protocol. The lime juice/beet juice/mineral water combination is described as soothing and nurturing the kidneys "on the day of infection." Keeping raw lime and beet juice in regular use keeps bacteria levels regulated so that infection does not become excessive.

The severe form, with significant pain, minimal urination, and systemic distress, may resolve with nutrient-dense smoothies and rest over a course of days. The toxin discharge that caused the irritation must move through before full relief comes.

Kidney Stones, Gradual Dissolution

Both stone-dissolving formulas are described as causing gradual dissolution. There is no specific timeline given in days or weeks for kidney stones specifically, but the formulas are to be alternated every day until stones are dissolved.

For a stone that has grown over decades and is very large, naturally dissolving it "could take months", as Aajonus noted when considering whether to dissolve his own bladder stone naturally before his lecture tour:

"Naturally dissolving a stone that size could take months and my next lecture tour was to begin in 2 weeks."

Aajonus Vonderplanitz

This was the reason he elected surgical (laser) removal rather than waiting for natural dissolution.

Discomfort During Dissolution

"When stones are being dissolved, there may be some discomfort."

Aajonus Vonderplanitz

This discomfort results from stone fragments moving through the kidney, ureter, bladder, and urethra, physically scraping against tissue. The urethra pain protocol (passing stone protocol) may apply: long hot baths, raw milk diet, raw cream and honey in the milk.

After surgical laser removal, bladder tissue may require three to six weeks to fully heal:

"If the doc lasered your bladder, it will likely cause discomfort until it is completely healed: 3–6 weeks."

Aajonus Vonderplanitz

Urethra Pain from Passing Stones

James's case: he suffered for many weeks before switching to a raw milk only diet. Within 24 hours of beginning raw milk only, all pain subsided. This is the fastest resolution Aajonus documented for urethra pain from stones.

Damage Recovery (Structural Kidney Damage)

For kidney tissue that is partially dead (as in the case described where one-third of the left kidney and 50% of the right kidney were dead):

"Usually just doing the diet takes care of that. There's nothing special for the kidneys."

Aajonus Vonderplanitz

There is no specific timeline given for this level of damage recovery, but the implication is that the diet itself, fats, proteins, some juice, occasional pineapple for scar tissue, is the primary and sufficient tool.

Questions Aajonus Answered

Questions Aajonus Answered

  • Q&A #1: Kidney Infection with Severe Pain and Minimal Urination

Question (paraphrased from client to Aajonus, January 12, 2001): "I realized since last night that this severe pain is a kidney infection, especially on the right side. The only thing that worries me is I am not urinating hardly at all, though I drank several glasses of Gerolsteiner in the night, I hope it is not all blocked up or something. I haven't turned yellow yet, I don't think. Now I'm drinking some warm regular lemon water as that's all I have. If you have a suggestion for this, please let me know. I don't think I could eat much yet, but will try."

Aajonus's Response: "It's probably not a kidney detoxification. Probably toxins that have discharged through the kidneys causing irritation to the kidneys. However, that may have caused some kidney tissue detoxification. Better to drink smoothies with many nutrients than nutrientless water."

    ---

  • Q&A #2: Kidney Problems and Tonsils, Stepmother's Case

Question (paraphrased): "My stepmother has had kidney problems for ages. Only one kidney works, the other is very shriveled. She has been ill with it, on and off, for the last few years with fever and kidney/bladder infections, and a lot of white cottage cheese stuff coming out vaginally. She can look very pale in the face. The doctors are now saying it is connected to her tonsils, that is the origin of the problems, and that she should have them out. It sounds to me as if she is generally very toxic. Any comments?"

Aajonus's Response: "It would be best if she ate lots of unsalted raw butter with honey, raw eggs and raw meat. A little pineapple once in a while might be helpful; but, normally, refrain from high-carbohydrate foods."

Follow-up question: "You did not mention if the doctors' idea of the tonsils being involved and needing to be removed were a silly idea or actually could have something to do with her kidney problem."

Aajonus's Response: "The tonsils are glands that protect the brain, eyes and ears. They help filter toxicity, harness it and dispose of it [through appropriate channels]." [The implication being that removing the tonsils would be counterproductive, depriving the body of an important filtration and protective gland.]

    ---

  • Q&A #3: Failed Kidneys with Dialysis, Father's Case

Question (paraphrased, March 30, 2001): "My dad (age 59) has two failed kidneys. They are infused, or crystallized, with kidney stones that he continues to pass on a regular basis. Urine still passes through the kidneys and he still urinates, but apparently they don't filter anything because he has been on dialysis 3 times a week for more than two years. He also has Crohn's disease of the intestines and hepatitis B. I know in your book you said that if an organ has failed, it can't be revived, so I wonder if you consider his kidneys failed."

    ---

  • Q&A #4: Post-Bladder-Stone-Surgery, Infection in Urine, Cipro Prescribed

Question (paraphrased): "I had my last visit today. On the plus side, I'm free to go, literally. I wasn't charged for the visit. I got a copy of the surgical report. In answer to the question if my bladder was cut, he said the stone fragments have a sandpaper effect until washed out. They made the bladder bleed. Of course I had one more urine test. He found infection saying it is 'not quite' what he wanted to see. Bottom line: I was released with no further obligation and given a free supply of an antibiotic called 'Cipro' (how sweet of him). Don't worry, I won't take it. I'm free to exercise, ejaculate and whatever I want to do. I'm guessing that I simply follow your remedies and let the bacteria and nature take its course."

Aajonus's Response: "Congratulations. Cipro causes HUS (hemolytic-uremic syndrome), that is, dissolving kidney disease. How wonderful of him to want you to damage your kidney to get rid of a detoxification of the damaged tissue in your bladder."

  • Q&A #5: What to Say to the Doctor, Antibiotics and "Too Acidic" Urine

Question (paraphrased): "Suppose they ask if I took the antibiotic. Do I tell them what they want to hear ('yes') or do I tell them the truth (only for a day or two)?"

Aajonus's Response: "They will probably tell you that your urine is too acidic and builds stones, and that you should eat or drink a lot of fruit. Acknowledge and thank them for any advice that they give. Tell them you took the antibiotics; you do not have to tell them how much."

  • Q&A #6: E. Coli in Urine, Bladder Lasered, Discomfort

Question (paraphrased): "Does the E. coli in my urine have anything to do with how it feels? Any recommendations?"

Aajonus's Response: "Custard was to help correct damage by antibiotics. I suggest having it 2–3 times weekly for 10 weeks. If the doc lasered your bladder, it will likely cause discomfort until it is completely healed: 3–6 weeks. E. coli in your urine indicates that you consumed antibiotics. Yes, do not ever take antibiotics again."

Follow-up from client: "I need to clarify about the E. coli. I had my last urine analysis on Tues 9/24 and they found 'bacteria' in the urine. This was BEFORE I took any antibiotic, not after... I seem to be improving well. Urination is freer and clear. Much less discomfort."

  • Q&A #7: Workshop Attendee, Structural Kidney Damage from Childhood Treatment

Question (paraphrased, workshop context): Attendee had kidney problems when they were six or seven years old, was taken repeatedly to the hospital. Asking for suggestions.

Aajonus's Response: "You've got about a third dead tissue in the left kidney and about 50% of the kidney is dead on the right side. So that's still pre-functional. The right kidney was most affected by the treatment... Usually just doing the diet takes care of that. There's nothing special for the kidneys."

He then outlined the formula: 8 ounces carrot juice, 2 ounces coconut cream, 1 ounce dairy cream, tablespoon lemon juice, tablespoon honey (if desired). He noted: "With a kidney like this you might be up urinating during the night if you have it right before you go to bed. That's for sure. And once in a while have a little pineapple, not a lot. Because it will make you emotional but you need it to break up scar tissue. You have scar tissue aligning all of your glands. And the kidneys."

  • Q&A #8: Aajonus's Own Bladder Stone, Workshop Narrative

During multiple workshops, Aajonus told the story of his own bladder stone. Key details across versions:

    - Stone had been growing since approximately age two or three, when his body began depositing mercury from tetanus vaccinations into the bladder - His slow urination, two to three minutes to start, two to three minutes to finish, sometimes four and a half minutes to begin, was the stone's effect from his earliest conscious memory - His mother would slap him on the back and tell him to hurry up: "Nobody else takes that long" - At age 59 (in August 2006), after eating raw shrimp marinated in lemon juice with shrimp cocktail sauce, a shooting pain passed through his lower abdomen - He could no longer urinate without lifting his leg like a dog to shift the stone - He had a small amount of blood in his urine - He went to a urologist who used ultrasound (not x-rays) on the following Monday - The stone was larger than the urologist's thumb, round, and had been described by all four urologists at the clinic and approximately 20 nurses as the largest any of them had ever seen, in experience or literature - His bladder wall was four inches thick (should be much thinner) - The urologist said it would take 35–40 minutes to blast out; it actually took over one hour and forty-five minutes (in one version he says two hours) - The stone's core was the size of a large marble, black like steel, "mercury dense" - The laboratory confirmed no cancerous activity and that the black particles were "mercury dense" - Aajonus had instructed the urologist: no antibiotics in the IV, no saline, only glucose water; nothing else in his body - The urologist initially refused unless he could administer antibiotics; Aajonus warned him of legal consequences if anything major happened as a result - Aajonus told the urologist to save some of the fluid from the blasted stone, he wanted it tested for what the stone was made of - Surgical steel tubes were wider than his penis, approximately 1.5+ inches in diameter, carrying four internal tubes: a laser, a camera, a fluid/wash tube, and a vacuum/suction tube - He was grateful he had accepted anesthesia, having seen the tube size in the operating room - He woke approximately four hours later - Post-operatively, he was released with Cipro, which he did not take
