Candida, in Aajonus's framework, is not a disease, infection, or pathogen to be feared or destroyed. It is a yeast-like condition, a detoxification process, that the body deliberately creates and employs as a biological janitor. He stated this clearly and repeatedly across seminars, books, and personal correspondence, and considered the conventional medical framing of candida as an enemy to be one of the most dangerous misunderstandings in modern health culture.
Aajonus's Definition
Candida, in Aajonus's framework, is not a disease, infection, or pathogen to be feared or destroyed. It is a yeast-like condition, a detoxification process, that the body deliberately creates and employs as a biological janitor. He stated this clearly and repeatedly across seminars, books, and personal correspondence, and considered the conventional medical framing of candida as an enemy to be one of the most dangerous misunderstandings in modern health culture.
Specifically, Aajonus defined candida as a yeast, a mold, that feeds on and cleans up a very specific kind of biological debris: the damaged, bruised, or cauterized cells that have been destroyed by sugar byproducts, particularly the advanced glycation end products (AGEs) that accumulate from a lifetime of carbohydrate consumption. In his words: "Candida is a yeast, it's a mold. What does yeast feed on? Sugar. And what does it feed on normally? Damaged cells, damaged by sugar byproducts."
He elaborated further that candida, as a fungus, eats "little stagnant pools of blood that result from internal lesions caused by dryness and cracking of the tissues within the body." These lesions are created by the excess adrenaline and insulin that accumulate from consuming stimulants and processed carbohydrates, the dryness that results from the body spending its fat reserves to neutralize those chemical excesses.
Candida fungus, he said, "cleans the system by eating degenerated tissue damaged by accumulated cooked carbohydrate-based, adrenaline- or insulin-related chemicals." This is the core of his definition: candida is purposeful, targeted, and body-directed. It does not arrive from outside as an invader. The body generates and deploys it as part of its own cleaning apparatus.
He further placed candida within a hierarchy of the body's three main cleansing mechanisms. The first is the lymphatic system. The second is bacteria, viruses, and molds, including candida. The third, and most powerful when the toxicity is so great that bacteria and parasites cannot survive it, is fungus. Candida falls within this second and third category. He stated: "The second way that the body cleans itself is bacteria, virus and molds including candida. Candida is a very good thing to have. People who don't have candida contain and do not eliminate products like advanced glycation end products which are byproducts of the body using glycogen mainly as fuel, as neurological fuel."
He connected this to research from Columbia University, which he cited as having found that advanced glycation end products store in a healthy body at a rate of 70%, meaning even a relatively healthy body retains 70% of the waste products generated from burning carbohydrates as fuel. In an unhealthy body, he said, this storage rate rises to as high as 90%. Candida is one of the primary mechanisms the body uses to remove this accumulated glycation waste. Without candida, these products simply stay in the body, locked in tissues, bones, and organs.
He also cited New York City Medical University research on advanced glycation end products, describing them as "the end product of using carbohydrate as fuel, as glycogen. That is a waste product, just like in a car we have carbon monoxide as a byproduct of burning fuel." Candida, in his framework, is the body's carbon monoxide cleanup crew.
He explicitly rejected the notion that candida should be eradicated: "Candida is not a bad thing. Giardia is not a bad thing. Those are good things. You just have to feed yourselves and rebuild and heal the body properly. All of those are your friends." And: "The worst thing anyone can do if he or she wants to improve his or her health is to destroy Candida."
He described candida as falling in the same category as all other so-called pathogens that the medical profession has labeled enemies: "The only enemy is industrial nonsense. And that's the medical profession, pharmaceutical industry."

Root Cause
Aajonus identified multiple interrelated root causes of candida proliferation, all of which stem from the fundamental problem of what the body has been fed over a lifetime, and what chemical environments that feeding has created in the tissues.
Cooked Starches and Carbohydrates Accumulated Over a Lifetime
The primary root cause he identified is the long-term consumption of cooked starches. He was explicit: "People are used to eating a lot of cooked starch, whether it's vegetable or grain. A lot of potatoes in their lifetime, a lot of breads in their lifetime. So they've got all that starch. And what does Candida feed on? Sugars. So these are toxic sugars in their system."
These are not ordinary sugars, they are what he called toxic sugars: the byproducts of starch that has been cooked and then improperly digested, which then either mold, rot, or ferment within the body. He described this vividly: "You can smell somebody who is slightly fermenting. Under their skin they have a fermentation smell. Or it has a moldy smell to it. Those starches are breaking down."
He was clear that this is not a rapid process. The accumulation happens over years and decades: "We spend a lifetime eating garbage so we have it. So, we have to deal with them." And the resolution is equally slow: "It's not going to go away for years because your cells are damaged with carbohydrate byproducts."
He specifically named the worst offenders: grain-based foods, breads, pastas, pizzas, and potatoes. "Any carbohydrate foods, especially grain-based foods. If you're eating grain-based foods, you're asking for fungus. Period."
He also included fruit, even raw fruit, as a driver of candida, because fruit contains sugars that, when improperly handled by the body, damage cells in the same way: "Cut out the fruit. For somebody with candida, I say just forget fruit." He was equally clear about this in describing sugar addiction: when someone craves fruit endlessly, they are feeding the yeast more material to work on.
The Role of Excess Adrenaline and Insulin
Aajonus described an intertwined causal relationship between high adrenaline levels, high insulin levels, and candida. The excess adrenaline and insulin, produced in response to stimulants and processed carbohydrates, "create toxic conditions" and "spend fat, creating the dryness that causes lesions, the storage of volatile toxins in tissues, and disturbing blood sugar levels."
These lesions, the cracks and dried pools in the tissues, are what candida feeds on. "The person having overactive adrenal glands combining with the sugar and the lack of fats saturates the body and causes candida." He stated that in at least 86% of cases, candida and adrenal exhaustion occur together, though he noted that candida usually precedes the adrenal exhaustion.
He described a cascading mechanism: the body's cells, damaged everywhere by the adrenaline and sugar-rich environment, can no longer produce their own intracellular hormones (prostaglandins). When the extracellular secretion also breaks down, complete exhaustion results. The sugar stored in the tissue along with the adrenaline becomes food for the yeast, including candida.
Antibiotics and Penicillin
He identified antibiotic use as a major contributor to fungal conditions in the body, including candida. He stated flatly that candida essentially did not exist before penicillin and antibiotics: "You want to find yeast infections, rotch, jock itch, athlete's foot, whatever. Did those exist before penicillin and antibiotics came out? Zip zero. Can't find it in any of the medical records anywhere. Not even in Greece and Rome."
He explained that antibiotics themselves are molds, penicillin is a mold, and that when you introduce a sterilized mold into the body, the living molds already present in the body react and proliferate: "Any kind of antibiotic you've had, any penicillin, it's still growing in your body." Every time you eat a grain food after having had antibiotics, you are feeding those fungi further.
He also noted that women who take antibiotics while pregnant or nursing put their offspring at very high risk for a range of conditions, and that the offspring inherit a terrain primed for fungal overgrowth.
Smoking, Alcohol, and Stimulants Combined with Adrenal Activity
He was specific about risk factors: "Smoking puts a person at higher risk of developing Candida. If a person has a high adrenaline level and drinks alcohol, he or she is putting herself at great risk of developing Candida."
He listed soft drinks with caffeine, salt, alcohol, smoke, coffee, teas, and aspirin as all being poisonous in this context, because they "overstimulate the adrenals and pancreas, causing excess adrenaline and insulin that spends fat, creating the dryness that causes lesions."
Lack of Fat
He identified fat deficiency as a critical contributing factor. Without sufficient raw fat in the diet, the body cannot bind with the toxic byproducts of carbohydrate metabolism, cannot protect tissues from dryness and cracking, and cannot lubricate the system to allow natural detoxification to proceed gently. "The person having overactive adrenal glands combining with the sugar and the lack of fats saturates the body and causes candida." He also described how eating starch without fat, for example, a potato without butter, is significantly worse than eating it with fat, because the fat binds with the toxins forming in the blood, digestive tract, and glandular systems.
Advanced Glycation End Products in the Bones and Tissues
He noted that in serious candida cases, the yeast is not just working in obvious areas like the skin or the vaginal region, it is working throughout the body, including in the bones: "You have yeast growing in everything, even in your bones." He connected this to the Columbia University data showing that AGEs accumulate even in healthy people at 70%, meaning virtually everyone eating any significant amount of carbohydrate is accumulating material that will eventually require candida to process it.
Environmental Factors
He also identified environmental stressors as impairing the bacteria and enzyme activity that would otherwise allow detoxification to occur more quietly. He specifically cited smart meters, WiFi, EMFs, and air pollution as factors that damage bacteria and enzyme function, meaning the body's detoxification burden increases and candida must work harder and more visibly.
---
Why This Happens
Candida sits squarely and simultaneously in multiple principles of Aajonus's philosophy:
Terrain Theory / Microbes as Janitors: This is the primary philosophical home for candida in his framework. His entire treatment of candida is an expression of terrain theory, the body creates and deploys candida in response to an internal terrain problem. Candida does not come from outside. It is generated or called upon by the body itself. He was categorical: "Virus, bacteria, molds, yeasts, they are your janitors. They're out to heal you. They're not out to destroy you as a medical profession would love you to believe."
Cooked Food as the Root Problem: The specific terrain condition that necessitates candida is primarily created by cooked carbohydrates. Bread, pasta, pizza, potatoes, all cooked starch creates the accumulated toxic sugars and glycation products that require candida to clean up. Without a lifetime of cooked carbohydrate consumption, the candida problem would be minimal or absent.
Detoxification: Candida is itself a detoxification process. It is a symptom of the cure, not a disease. He said this repeatedly and explicitly: "Candida is a detoxification process, part of the cure for toxins that have been stored and that are problematic. It is not the cause of disease." The symptoms people experience during a candida episode are detoxification symptoms, the body successfully removing material it could not remove otherwise.
Sovereignty / Rejecting Medical Paradigms: His repeated insistence that "the worst thing you can do is destroy candida with medications" places this squarely in Sovereignty of his philosophy. He viewed the medical treatment of candida, antifungal drugs, medications, as not only ineffective but actively harmful, because it poisons already toxic and hardened tissue, preventing it from ever being resolved.

Symptoms Reframed
Aajonus provided a comprehensive reinterpretation of every major symptom associated with candida, reframing each one as evidence of the body doing its work rather than evidence of pathological attack.
Pallid Complexion: A somewhat pallid complexion is listed as a symptom of candida in his framework. This reflects the internal state of the terrain, the tissue damage from sugar byproducts creating an internal environment where normal circulation and coloration are compromised.
Sensitive and Swollen Extremities: The joints swell and become sore because candida is working in those areas, breaking down sugar-damaged tissue. He noted that raw yam juice, consumed freshly within 10 minutes of juicing, once every 4 days, helps "produce hormones that reduce the swelling and soreness in the joints as a result of Candida."
Dry Skin: The dryness is a direct result of the excess adrenaline and insulin burning through fat reserves. Without fat reserves, the body cannot lubricate its own tissues, hence the drying and cracking that creates the very lesions candida eats.
Extreme Lethargy: He acknowledged this as one of the most debilitating symptoms, particularly in cases that overlap with chronic fatigue syndrome. Some of his clients could not work. He was clear that this is not caused by candida itself but by the underlying accumulation of toxins and the draining effect of the body's ongoing internal cleansing effort.
Critical Attitude, Dislike for People, Tendency Toward Isolation: He listed these psychological symptoms as characteristic of the candida condition, connected to the adrenaline toxicity and the physiological stress of the internal terrain. The adrenaline-toxic person becomes hyperreactive emotionally, irritable, and antisocial.
Fermentation Smell: He described that people with chronic candida can literally be smelled, they have a fermentation odor or moldy smell emanating from beneath the skin, because the starches breaking down inside them are producing fermentation gases and byproducts that push through the skin.
Alcoholic-Smelling Perspiration in the Groin: He specifically noted that he could identify candida clients partly by whether they had perspiration in the crotch area that smelled alcoholic, because the fermenting sugars produce alcohols as byproducts. He noted that most people, on some animal level, are aware of this in themselves even if they do not consciously acknowledge it.
Little Red Splotches on the Skin: He said he could tell a candida client by visual inspection, their skin would have little red splotches. They also have very sensitive skin generally.
Itching: The itching associated with candida, whether in the vaginal area, the skin, the feet (athlete's foot), or anywhere else, he reframed entirely. The itching is the waste product of the yeast's work. The yeast eats the damaged tissue and produces waste, and that waste causes the itching. He said: "Get rid of them. So, as they pass through, you have the itchy and the flaky and the dryness resulting from it." He consistently said the goal is not to stop the itching by stopping the candida, but to mitigate the itching while allowing the candida to complete its work.
Vaginal Yeast Infections: He described vaginal yeast infections as the body throwing off adrenaline and sugars through the vaginal tissues, noting that this is actually a more efficient route for women than systemic candida. "The body will keep throwing the adrenaline and sugars down there where a woman can get rid of it quicker. Whereas a man will get it all through their system." He framed vaginal yeast infections specifically as "trying to get rid of the sugar damage in your uterus", the yeast is cleaning the uterine and vaginal tissue of sugar-damaged cells.
Stomach, Back, Head, and Leg Aches (in an 8-year-old): In his correspondence about an 8-year-old girl with recurring candida, he was explicit that these symptoms, stomach hurts, back hurts, head hurts, legs hurt, are not symptoms of candida itself. They are "a symptom of poor bacteria and enzyme activity" and represent "toxins stored in those tissues." He was careful to distinguish between what candida actually causes (primarily itching) and what the broader toxic burden causes (systemic aches and flu-like symptoms).
Flu-like Symptoms: He explained that flu-like symptoms during a candida episode arise from inadequate bacterial and enzyme activity, not from the candida itself. When enough bacteria and enzymes are present, detoxification occurs without notice or with minimal symptoms. The flu-like experience indicates the body lacks sufficient biological tools to process the detox quietly.
Symptoms That Appear to Worsen with Honey: He addressed this specifically. Some people report that eating honey makes their candida worse. He explained this is a misperception: "What sometimes happens is when people are eating honey they assimilate their proteins better and guess what gets thrown off? Sugar byproducts. Feeds the yeast in the skin. So it makes you feel like the honey is made in Candida worse. But what it does is it makes it better in getting rid of the tissue."
---
Food Protocol
Aajonus provided detailed, specific food protocols for candida management, distinguishing between what supports the body through the candida detoxification process and what mitigates the uncomfortable symptoms.
Raw Honey
He was adamant that raw, unheated honey does not feed candida and is in fact beneficial. He stated: "Honey is not a sugar; will not go into a sugar they can feed on. Ninety-nine percent of all bacteria cannot live in honey. You put it in honey, it dies, it just goes dormant, just like that." He extended this to yeast specifically: "You put a yeast in it, it just goes dormant, absolutely freezes."
He explained the mechanism: raw honey has an insulin-like substance in it that means only about 10% of what you eat in honey behaves like sugar metabolically. He stated that advanced glycation end products are "very minimal with honey," making it fundamentally different from other sugars in terms of its effect on the candida terrain.
The critical caveat: the honey must be heated below 93°F. He stated: "I found that honey heated above 93 degrees starts destroying that insulin-like substance. By the time you reach 100 degrees, diabetics can't eat it anymore... it doesn't reach a radical sugar until you go over 105 degrees but still at 100 degrees it's all sugar again." Cooked honey, in contrast, absolutely feeds candida and should be avoided entirely.
He specifically recommended: when the body needs to address candida and related dryness, a honey and butter mixture is useful, place it in the mouth and allow it to dissolve.
He described honey directly killing candida in combination with other substances: "You put Candida and honey together, they die. Candida dies."
The Skin Formula for Candida Passing Through the Skin
He gave a specific topical formula for managing symptoms when candida detoxification is occurring through the skin. Take 3.5 ounces of raw cream, juice ginger to get 1 tablespoon of ginger juice. Blend for about 10 seconds. Apply to the skin. If the cream is thick, it will whip into whipped cream and apply like a cosmetic cream. If not as thick, it will still be effective but won't spread as far. This formula moisturizes and helps the skin handle the drying and itching as yeast passes through.
For more serious cases, such as someone with mold growing in the bones or extensive systemic fungal activity, he increased the ginger juice: "I want you to double the ginger juice. I want you to have four ounces of cream and two ounces of ginger juice. And I want you to put that all over your body." He explained: "from the outside in, we'll be able to arrest some of those molds."
Raw Cream
He consistently recommended raw dairy cream as a key food for candida conditions. It provides the rich fat needed to prevent the dryness that creates the lesions candida must eat, it protects the tissues, and it can be used both internally and externally. He noted that 2 ounces of raw cream with eggs and honey prevents the kind of sugar reaction that would otherwise feed candida: "Usually it doesn't happen because two ounces of raw cream prevents that. And you can utilize the honey."
Eggs
He explicitly recommended approximately 8 eggs per day for someone dealing with candida. He told one attendee named Brian directly: "I also recommend that you have about eight eggs a day." Eggs provide highly bioavailable protein and fat that supports tissue repair without feeding the yeast.
The Antibiotic/Mold-Killing Formula (for antifungal purposes)
He gave a specific internal formula for addressing fungal overgrowth that he described as the way to "kill it naturally", specifically addressing the molds introduced by antibiotics that continue growing in the body:
- 4 to 6 tablespoons of lime juice (depending on body size)
- Equal amount of coconut cream
- Equal amount of honey
- 1 to 2 tablespoons of lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon of dairy cream
Blend all together. Add 2 to 4 ounces of sparkling water (depending on body size). He did not specify frequency in the passages provided but indicated this was the natural formula to address antibiotic-derived fungal growth.
The Rampant Candida Reduction Formula (temporary)
For temporarily reducing rampant candida, he provided a specific formula: - 4 tablespoons fresh lime juice - 1 to 2 tablespoons unheated honey - 1 to 2 tablespoons raw unpasteurized apple cider vinegar - Add to 4 ounces of naturally sparkling water - Drink 2 ounces every 4 hours - For no more than 3 consecutive days
He cautioned: "In some individuals, that may cause increased symptoms for the several days but ultimately it reduces Candida proliferation." The word temporarily is his, the goal is not to eliminate candida but to reduce it to a manageable level when symptoms are overwhelming.
Raw Apple Cider Vinegar
He strongly advocated for raw, unpasteurized apple cider vinegar as a medicine for candida, specifically to alkalinize the body, which is important for someone who has stored a lot of acidity. He explained this is why the conventional candida diet says to avoid all vinegar: because all the vinegar available commercially is pasteurized, and pasteurized vinegar is a problem. Raw apple cider vinegar, however, behaves differently: "it's 'like attracts like'; it will start destroying it... eating up those pockets, pools of", referring to the stagnant pools that candida feeds on. He recommended it as a regular medicine for candida patients, especially hyperactive people with stored acidity.
He described the traditional remedy of apple cider vinegar, raw honey, and water, a couple of tablespoons daily, as valid within his framework, attributing it to figures like Bragg and Christopher.
The Mother in Apple Cider Vinegar
He mentioned the mother, the core of the fermentation process in apple cider vinegar, as part of what makes raw apple cider vinegar therapeutically useful. The mother itself is a fermentation agent.
Raw Yam Juice
For candida-related joint swelling and soreness specifically: "Drinking the freshest raw juice of 1 yam once every 4 days helps produce hormones that reduce the swelling and soreness in the joints as a result of Candida." He specified that yam juice must be consumed within 10 minutes after juicing.
Moisturizing and Lubrication Drink
For re-lubricating the joints and body, he recommended daily consumption of his Drink for Moisturizing and Lubrication, but made with only 1 to 3 teaspoons of fresh raw lemon juice, not the full amount. The lubrication drink helps address the fundamental dryness that creates the lesions candida must eat.
The Nut Formula
For extreme symptoms, particularly the adrenaline and insulin toxicity that underlies candida, he recommended: "eating half of a Nut Formula once daily in the afternoon for 3 days helps remove toxic adrenalin and insulin." He described this as specific to periods of extreme symptoms.
Cooked Starch with Raw Fat
He had a nuanced position on cooked starch for candida patients: "Eating a raw diet with cooked starch in combination with plenty of raw fat eliminates high adrenaline and insulin levels." The cooked starch is not forbidden, rather, it must always be eaten with raw fat (butter, oil) and never alone. This is because the raw fat binds with the toxins forming in the blood, digestive tract, and glandular systems from the starch. A potato with raw butter: acceptable. A potato alone: absolutely not. He was adamant: "I would never suggest that a person just eat the potato without the butter on it... Absolutely not. One should always have either an oil or a butter on the cooled potato."
Raw Milk
He recommended raw milk as something that "helps soothe the entire body but also makes for sleepiness that promotes healing." He did, however, advise caution with milk for some candida cases, telling one workshop attendee to avoid milk or at least reduce it, as the person's system was very advanced in its dysfunction. He noted that cold milk can cause problems: when milk is drunk cold, the body doesn't digest it properly, and the undigested lactate can get caught in tissues and cause vaginal yeast infections.
He also noted that room temperature milk is preferable for candida sufferers, and gave a specific instruction: "If you want to drink cold milk, what you do to cool the body... is you put the cold milk in your mouth and you let it stay in your mouth until everything gets cold and the milk gets warm. Then you swallow it. You do that five times and your brain is going to be cold."
The Sport Formula
For the flu-like symptoms that accompany candida episodes, particularly the aches in the stomach, back, head, and legs, he recommended his Sport Formula: sipped at 4 ounces at a time, 5 times daily.
Semi-Ripe Pineapple
He recommended a 2-inch cube of semi-ripe pineapple for "digestion and removal of lactic acid buildups that cause soreness", directly relevant to the muscle and joint aching that accompanies candida episodes. He did not specify frequency in the text beyond indicating this as a regular recommendation for the condition.
Topical Formula: Primal Facial Body Care Cream
He specifically directed people with skin symptoms from candida to his Primal Facial Body Care Cream formula from the recipe book. He said: "you make that, apply it", for the itching and flaking that results from yeast passing through the skin. The formula, as he described in the workshop transcripts, involves coconut cream, dairy cream, and butter in a mixture applied to the skin. He also mentioned experimenting with adding bone marrow to this formula for certain cases, noting that bone marrow is "the only substance that has stem cells in it besides sperm and ovum."
Topical: Butter on Skin
He recommended rubbing butter on the skin to "help draw out the poisons, help smother the fungus." He also described a specific version: blend 2 ounces of butter with a sugar-cube-sized piece of pineapple and rub into the skin. He preferred medium-ripe or yellow pineapple for this topical application, noting: "if it's yellow for the skin, it probably would be even better because it's slightly alcoholic, alcohol rich. And the body uses alcohols to break down certain substances."
Coconut Cream (Topical)
He recommended coconut cream applied to the labial area for vaginal yeast symptoms, and to the feet for athlete's foot-type fungal symptoms. He consistently mentioned this as one of the primary topical mitigators of yeast-related itching.
Douching for Vaginal Candida
For rectal itching from yeast, he recommended soaking a cotton or silk cloth in a mixture of equal portions of plain raw kefir and raw unpasteurized apple cider vinegar. For vaginal symptoms, he mentioned douching with "heather" (a plant) as an option.
Case Study: Persistent Vaginal Yeast Infections
He documented a case of a woman who had suffered vaginal yeast infections every time she had sex throughout her entire life. She had tried everything he suggested above, it mitigated the infections but she still experienced pain after sex. As a last resort, she tried an Ayurvedic method: drinking her first urine of each day for several weeks. Within two weeks, the recurring infections completely ceased. He included this case as an example of the kinds of edge-case interventions that may be necessary when standard protocols have not fully resolved the condition.
Hot Water Bottles
He recommended placing hot water bottles on the abdomen, both front and back (around the waist area and around the mid-back), for people dealing with candida and mold-related conditions. He specified "don't get them so hot they'll burn you" and indicated that for someone with mold in the bones, having them on during the day (strapped on while walking around at home) is appropriate.
Raw Meat
He consistently recommended raw meat as a foundational food that, by virtue of its high protein and fat content without carbohydrate, supports the body's ability to heal damaged tissue without feeding candida. He noted that tribes eating completely raw meat and dairy do not have candida. He also told one attendee who was dealing with candida and sugar cravings: "It's because you're not eating the meat. You start the day off with those and you're just going to crave sugar and you're not going to eat your meat. So once you change that, you'll see it'll be very easy to change. That addiction will stop."
---
What to Avoid
- iFruit
He was unambiguous: "Cut out the fruit. For somebody with candida, I say just forget fruit." Fruit contains sugars that damage cells and feed candida through the same mechanism as any other sugar. He also noted that endlessly craving fruit is itself a symptom connected to the yeast cycle, the body is craving the sugar that feeds the yeast, and that stopping fruit breaks this cycle.
- iiCooked Honey
He was equally clear: cooked honey (heated above 93°F, and especially above 100°F) behaves as pure sugar, loses its insulin-like substance, and absolutely feeds candida. He said: "cooked honey they can feed on. Yes. It will feed on it." This is distinguished from raw honey, which kills candida.
- iiiGrains, Bread, Pasta, Pizza, Potatoes (without fat)
He identified all grain-based foods as major contributors. "The people who keep eating that stuff, breads and pastas and pizzas are feeding those fungus." Potatoes eaten without raw fat are particularly problematic. He did not absolutely forbid cooked starches, he described them as necessary for binding toxins when accompanied by raw fat, but he was clear that grain-based foods, especially if someone has ever had antibiotics, are continuously feeding the fungal terrain.
- ivSoft Drinks with Caffeine, Salt, Alcohol, Smoke, Coffee, Teas, Aspirin
He listed these as all poisonous in this context because they "overstimulate the adrenals and pancreas, causing excess adrenaline and insulin" which creates the very dryness and lesions that candida must then eat. These substances are not just feeding candida indirectly, they are creating the terrain destruction that requires candida to proliferate.
- vAntibiotics and Medications to Destroy Candida
He was absolute on this: "Medication poisons the already toxic and hardened tissue, causing it to remain toxic and hardened. If your goal is to improve your health, the worst thing you can do is to destroy a yeast infection with medications." He explained that you cannot pasteurize fungus away, "you don't kill a fungus at pasteurization. That just subdues it for a long period." Even cooking to 500 degrees does not kill molds in his view, they must be dealt with through proper terrain restoration, not chemical destruction.
- viEpsom Salt Baths (Nuanced Position)
When an 8-year-old's parent asked about Epsom salt baths, Aajonus's response was that it does not matter whether you use raw apple cider vinegar, 2 tablespoons of sun-dried sea salt or Epsom salt, and 2 tablespoons of coconut cream, all are acceptable in a hot bath because "when in a hot bath, the salts are not absorbed into the skin." So Epsom salt is not contraindicated but is essentially neutral compared to other bath additions.
- viiPasteurized Vinegar
He was clear: commercial vinegar is pasteurized and is a problem for candida. Only raw apple cider vinegar is beneficial. The conventional candida diet's prohibition on all vinegar, he explained, is a misapplication, they are correct about pasteurized vinegar but wrong to extend that to raw apple cider vinegar.
- viiiMilk Drunk Cold
He noted specifically that cold milk, when swallowed cold without being warmed in the mouth first, causes impaired digestion. The undigested lactate can travel to the vaginal tissues and feed yeast there, causing vaginal infections. This is not about avoiding milk but about avoiding cold milk swallowed rapidly.
- ixNutritional Yeast (Processed)
He stated: "I don't think it's good. It's all processed and very heated." Commercial nutritional yeast, even if marketed as beneficial, is not appropriate for candida conditions. He did make an exception for one brand (Natureaid's primary nutritional yeast grown on raw whey, never heated above 92°F), but noted that product may no longer be available.

Recovery Timeline
Aajonus was consistently realistic, and sobering, about how long full candida resolution takes. He did not offer quick fixes. His timeline data came from his clinical experience with actual clients.
Symptom Mitigation vs. Complete Resolution
He distinguished sharply between mitigation of symptoms and complete resolution:
- Symptom mitigation: People who follow the diet at 95 to 100% compliance "have no symptoms. Maybe a little itching once in a while in one particular area, but that's it. No other symptoms. No fatigue that goes along with it. No irritability. No intense rashes." This level of symptom relief is achievable relatively quickly once dietary compliance is high.
- Complete resolution: "It's not going to go away for years because your cells are damaged with carbohydrate byproducts." The yeast must continue working until all the damaged cells are cleaned up, and given that these are accumulated over a lifetime of eating, the process cannot be accelerated beyond what the body can do.
Recurrence Prevention Timeline
He gave specific numbers from his practice for reaching the point of no recurrence: - "Usually from nine months to a year and three months, where they won't have a recurrence." - "The shortest period of time for it to be completely gone from the body was about three years and eight months." - "The longest about six years and three months."
So symptom-free with no recurrence: minimum approximately 3 years and 8 months; maximum observed approximately 6 years and 3 months in his clinical experience.
The Statement "Usually the Candida is Never a Problem Again"
He expressed confidence that he could manage candida clients such that "usually the candida is never a problem again. Usually I can take care of that and they are never really bothered by the candida. A little itching once in a while."
Complications from Adrenaline Toxicity During Recovery
He warned that the recovery process is not linear. Even when candida is being managed, the underlying adrenaline toxicity will cycle through episodes. During these episodes, the client may experience nausea, irritability, anxiety, and a return of unpleasant personality symptoms, making them feel as if they have regressed entirely. He noted: "They will have periods where they just think everything is back the way it was." This is part of the process, not a failure.
Candida-Chronic Fatigue Overlap Cases
He described these clients as some of the most difficult: "those people are so whacked out. They are probably more difficult than cancer." He noted they react differently from one another and require individualized management. Even in these cases, though, he stated he had ongoing clients working through it.
The Role of Continued Dietary Contamination
He was explicit that as long as someone continues eating things that damage tissue and feed yeast, the timeline extends indefinitely: "you have to deal with candida... because your cells are damaged with carbohydrate byproducts. But the symptoms will be much mitigated. People who have candida that do the diet anywhere from 95 to 100% have no symptoms." Partial compliance extends the process; full compliance dramatically reduces suffering without eliminating the underlying cleaning work.

Questions Aajonus Answered
- Q: Why is candida so difficult to resolve?
Aajonus: "People are used to eating a lot of cooked starch, whether it's vegetable or grain. A lot of potatoes in their lifetime, a lot of breads in their lifetime. So they've got all that starch. And what does Candida feed on? Sugars. So these are toxic sugars in their system. The Candida is trying to break that stuff down and get rid of it. So if they have been heavy starch eaters, heavy pizza eaters, potatoes, any kind of eater like that, and they haven't been able to break the sugars down well, then those sugars have a tendency to mold or rot or ferment in their system. You can smell somebody who is slightly fermenting. Under their skin they have a fermentation smell. Or it has a moldy smell to it. Those starches are breaking down. Candida is just one of the elements that the body uses, one amongst other fungal, bacterial, or viral bodies that the system will use to try to break those sugars down. And if they continue on a bad diet, it just keeps storing."
- Q: Is it true that on a candida diet you should have no vinegar of any kind?
Aajonus: "Because it's pasteurized and a problem." [The questioner then asked: So it's like the honey, in its raw form it's okay, and the candida won't feed on it?] "No, because it will go in and it's 'like attracts like'; it will start destroying it... eating up those pockets, pools of... So that's another thing that a candida person should have, plenty of apple cider vinegar."
- Q: So apple cider vinegar is okay for a candida person?
Aajonus: "Yes, I usually use it just as a medicine to alkalinize somebody, especially if they are a hyperactive person and if they have candida, something like that, they have stored a lot of acidity in their body."
- Q: What about raw honey, I was told I can't have anything sweet when I have candida. Not even an apple.
Aajonus: "Honey is not a sugar; will not go into a sugar they can feed on. Ninety-nine percent of all bacteria cannot live in honey. You put it in honey, it dies, it just goes dormant, just like that... Because of the enzymatic activity. You put a yeast in it, it just goes dormant, absolutely freezes... But cooked honey they can feed on. Yes. It will feed on it."
- Q: Do you have a person get a blood test to see whether they have candida or not?
Aajonus: "No, I can tell." [Asked how:] "Their skin will have little red splotches on it like I told you yesterday. They have very sensitive skin. They have a tendency to have perspiration in the crotch that smells alcoholic, and I just ask them. Because most people do touch themselves and smell it. It's just an animal thing. And whether they know it consciously or not, there are messages that are going when they are doing it."
- Q: Do you use any probiotic formulas to build the friendly bacteria? No supplements of any kind?
Aajonus: "No. I've found that when you get into that, you are going to throw one thing one way and another thing the other way. No matter how many" [the quote trails off, but the intent is clear, he did not recommend supplemental probiotics].
- Q: How long does it take to get candida clients to the point where their symptoms are abated enough that they feel they can function?
Aajonus: "Usually from nine months to a year and three months, where they won't have a recurrence. I'd say about the shortest period of time for it to be completely gone from the body was about three years and eight months. The longest about six years and three months."
- Q: If I got really disciplined, like 80, 90, 100%, how quickly can I hope for the candida to go away?
Aajonus: "Well, it's not going to go away for years because your cells are damaged with carbohydrate byproducts. But the symptoms will be much mitigated. People who have candida that do the diet anywhere from 95 to 100% have no symptoms. Maybe a little itching once in a while in one particular area, but that's it. No other symptoms. No fatigue that goes along with it. No irritability. No intense rashes."
- Q: What is candida?
Aajonus: "Candida is a yeast, it's a mold. What does yeast feed on? Sugar. And what does it feed on normally? Damaged cells, damaged by sugar byproducts. Candida does not live on honey. You put Candida and honey together, they die. Candida dies. Like that."
- Q (Email, Re: Candida albicans, 8-year-old daughter): My daughter has candida again. Symptoms: stomach hurts, back hurts, head hurts, and legs hurt. Is Epsom salt okay to use in the bath? What should she be eating? Any other thoughts?
Aajonus: "Candida is the big scapegoat for the last 1+ decade. Candida is a symptom and the cure for certain problems. The object is to allow candida to work while mitigating the symptoms, which is usually intense itching. The other symptoms of stomach, back, head and leg aches are not a symptom of candida but toxins stored in those tissues. It is a symptom of poor bacteria and enzyme activity. My Sport Formula, sipped 4 oz at a time 5 times daily, will help this flu-like condition. Also, a 2 inch cube of semi-ripe pineapple helps digestion and removal of lactic acid buildups that cause soreness. Raw milk helps soothe the entire body but also makes for sleepiness that promotes healing."
- Regarding bath additives: "It does not matter which you use because, when in a hot bath, the salts are not absorbed into the skin." He listed acceptable additions as raw apple cider vinegar, 2 tablespoons sun-dried sea or Epsom salt, and 2 tablespoons coconut cream.
Follow-up Q (Same case): Please explain what you mean by poor bacteria and enzyme activity causing the flu-like symptoms. You say these are not symptoms of candida, but my daughter feels this way when candida is present. When the candida is gone she does not hurt. How can she have poor bacteria and enzyme activity when we eat so clean?
- Aajonus: "When enough bacteria and enzymes are present, detoxification occurs without notice, or at least with minimal notice. Did you have a laboratory test that showed unusual amounts of candida? As I stated in Newsletter #11, candida is a detoxification process, part of the cure for toxins that have been stored and that are problematic. It is not the cause of disease... Our environment is riddled with bacteria and enzyme-damaging technologies, anything from smart meters to WiFi to EMFs and air pollution... When your daughter was gestating, you may have passed innumerable toxins into her that are now necessary to remove; and her body is capable of removing them using candida. Candida is not her enemy; the industrial toxins in any shape and form are her problem."
Q: What about the candida and making that go away?
- Aajonus: "The candida has to exist because that's what eats the sugar damage. So as long as you keep feeding it sugar and you keep damaging your cells, then you need more and more candida."
Q: I've been diagnosed with candida, how would fruit and honey be for me?
- Aajonus: "You're going to have to have the honey that's heated below 93 degrees... Well, you're going to have to have the honey that's heated below 93 degrees. It doesn't reach temperatures above 93 degrees." He also directed the person to use hot water bottles on the abdomen and around the mid-back area, and noted: "you have a lot of molds growing in your bones too."
Q: You've got herpes and you've got candida, what about eating pineapple?
- Aajonus: "You go eat that stuff and you're really going to be sugared out. Everything's going to go nuts." [Indicating pineapple is too sugary for someone with active candida and herpes together.]
Q: Should I avoid milk right now [with candida]?
- Aajonus: "I would avoid milk. Not completely, but..." [The transcript trails, but his direction is toward reducing milk temporarily.]
Q: Can I have coconut cream [instead of cow's cream, with candida]?
- Aajonus: "Yeah, coconut cream is fine. I prefer cow's cream for your system. But coconut cream is better than nothing. Better than no rich fat because your body has so much, so many advanced glycation end products in it. You have yeast growing in everything, even in your bones."
Q: Candida problems with the honey [when eating eggs and cream]?
- Aajonus: "Well, you're having it with enough fats. There's enough fats in the egg and all of that."
