Blood Pressure
CardiovascularBlood PressureAlso known as Hypertension, Hypotension

High blood pressure, in Aajonus's framework, is not a disease. It is not a malfunction. It is not something to suppress, eliminate, or medicate. High blood pressure is the body's own intelligent, purposeful, and necessary physiological response to a specific set of circulatory conditions. The body raises blood pressure precisely because it must, because without that elevated pressure, blood cannot adequately circulate through a system that has become congested, hardened, obstructed, or burdened by excess weight.

Aajonus's Definition

High Blood Pressure

High blood pressure, in Aajonus's framework, is not a disease. It is not a malfunction. It is not something to suppress, eliminate, or medicate. High blood pressure is the body's own intelligent, purposeful, and necessary physiological response to a specific set of circulatory conditions. The body raises blood pressure precisely because it must, because without that elevated pressure, blood cannot adequately circulate through a system that has become congested, hardened, obstructed, or burdened by excess weight.

Aajonus stated explicitly and repeatedly: "High blood pressure is the body's method of stretching, cleaning and healing congested arteries and veins." This is the foundational definition. The pressure is elevated because the body is actively working to force blood through pathways that are narrowed, hardened, or otherwise compromised. Without this increased pressure, the blood would not move adequately, it would slow, pool, coagulate, and potentially clot in the very vessels that are most at risk.

He described high blood pressure as literally life-saving in conditions of arterial congestion. The elevated force of the blood against the vessel walls serves to stretch those walls, to push material through them, and to clean them. It is a remediation process. The body is doing precisely what it should be doing.

He stated that high blood pressure is "very necessary for most people who have either arterial congestion, or are overweight, or subject to certain toxins, including house molds."

He further noted that "high blood pressure is important for many people over mid-forties and they may have high blood pressure for the rest of their lives because they do not care for themselves enough to make necessary changes in diet and environment."

He also said: "Your body's not going to go into high blood pressure unless you need it."

Aajonus was unambiguous: "So the doctors telling you high blood pressure bad is an absolute lie. It's fraud."

He observed that conventional standards for what constitutes "dangerous" blood pressure have been progressively lowered by the pharmaceutical industry over time. He pointed out that 60 years before his seminars, a reading of 190 over 110 was considered borderline. By the time of his seminars, that same reading was labeled a crisis demanding medication. He attributed this shift entirely to the pharmaceutical industry's need to sell more drugs to more people: "You've got to understand that those are here to sell more pills."

Low Blood Pressure

Low blood pressure in Aajonus's framework is presented as genuinely problematic, the opposite of what conventional medicine teaches. While medicine treats high blood pressure as dangerous and low blood pressure as ideal, Aajonus inverted this entirely. Low blood pressure is associated in his framework with weakness, poor circulation, vegetarianism, an inability to push blood through the body adequately, paranoia, and, most critically, actual heart attacks.

He described his own experience of low blood pressure during his fruitarian phase: "My blood pressure before I went on a good raw diet was about 130 over 97 to 100. When I became a fruitarian, it went down to about 110 to 109 over 67. Very low blood pressure." He described this as a problematic state. He noted that vegetarians tend to have low blood pressure, and he himself experienced it when he was a vegetarian, with readings as low as approximately 92 over 60 with a pulse rate between 40 and 62.

The danger of low blood pressure, in Aajonus's view, is that it cannot adequately move blood through a system that has congestion. When veins are not expanding, when pressure is insufficient, the blood slows and may coagulate or clot. He stated that when blood pressure is lowered with medication and a person then tries to exercise or exert themselves: "Those veins aren't wide enough, it could collapse or cause a spasm in the heart."

Root Cause

Root Cause

Root Causes of High Blood Pressure

Aajonus identified several distinct causes of high blood pressure, all of which represent a scenario where the circulatory system requires more force to function:

1. Consumption of Toxic Substances That Harden Arteries

The primary underlying cause he identified is the accumulation of cooked fats and toxic substances in the arterial walls, capillaries, and veins. He stated: "They're eating toxic substances which harden their arteries, harden their hearts, harden their capillaries. So of course the body has to have high blood pressure to make sure that these open and the blood flows."

He elaborated that this is "mainly caused by the lack of enzyme-mutations to digest, assimilate, and utilize cooked fats." When cooked fats cannot be properly processed, they accumulate, they harden, they build up as plaque on arterial walls, and they narrow the passages through which blood must flow. The body's response, the correct and intelligent response, is to increase pressure so that blood continues to reach all tissues.

2. Obesity / Excess Body Weight

The mechanical pressure of excess body weight compresses veins and arteries from the outside. When this happens, the internal lumen of those vessels is reduced, and more pressure is needed from within to keep them open and the blood moving. Aajonus stated: "If you're 500 pounds, your blood pressure should be very, very high. It should be really high." And: "Excessive pressure on the blood stream from obesity requires high blood pressure to properly move the blood."

He observed: "That's why almost 95% of the people I've ever met with high blood pressure were overweight."

He explained the mechanism: "Either their veins are going to collapse or they've got too much weight and they need to push to make the pressure higher."

3. Environmental and Household Toxins, Including Molds

He noted that house molds and other environmental toxins can trigger high blood pressure even in people who are not overweight and do not appear to have clogged arteries. He said in a newsletter: "Since you are not overweight, you probably have congested arteries or something is toxic in your home or office."

4. Arterial Plaquing

He discussed plaquing specifically in the context of necessity: "High blood pressure is necessary for people with plaquing in or on the arteries. It stretches the arteries. If they weren't stretched, very little blood would pass through them."

5. Overactive Adrenal Glands / Glandular Imbalance

In at least one case, he identified the cause of what appeared to be hypertension as "overactive testes and overactive adrenals." He told one attendee: "You probably have the hypertension because you have overactive testes and overactive adrenals. It's just the overactive."

6. Salt Consumption

He identified salt as a cause of the specific presentation of high blood pressure manifesting as headaches. He stated: "The common headache is from either high blood pressure (most often caused by eating salt)..." He explained that salt draws fluids and causes changes in the bloodstream: "[Carbonated water made chemically] causes headaches on its own without pulling salts out into your body from the body causing high blood pressure."

7. Excess Fruit / Fruitarian Diet (Paradoxical)

While fruitarianism tends to produce low blood pressure, too much fruit creates blood sugar spikes and can stress the system in other ways. He described transitioning from fruitarian to raw primal and how his blood pressure shifted during that transition.

Root Causes of Low Blood Pressure

1. Poor Diet / Vegetarianism / Fruitarianism

Aajonus repeatedly linked low blood pressure to inadequate protein intake and vegetarian diets. His own experience of low blood pressure came during his fruitarian phase.

2. Allergies to Pollutants, Including Medical or Recreational Drugs and Pollution

He stated: "The physiological cause is low blood pressure, caused by allergies to pollutants, including medical or recreational drugs and pollution, and/or poor diet."

3. Blood Pressure Medications Themselves

This is a critical point in Aajonus's framework. The medications given to lower high blood pressure actively cause low blood pressure, which he argued is the actual dangerous state. He noted that the people in clinical studies who had low blood pressure readings (110–120 systolic, the range that medications were pushing people toward) were the ones who had all the heart attacks. The medications, in his view, create the very problem they claim to prevent.

He stated: "Low blood pressure medication had all the heart attacks." And: "If she's weak and starts exercising and those veins aren't wide enough, it could collapse or cause a spasm in the heart. And it's a Charlie Oreson heart, that's it. You're dead. Cardiac arrest."

4. Slowing Blood Flow Through Medication or Homeopathy

He warned: "When you have high blood pressure and you slow blood pressure with medication or homeopathy, you're likely to cause clots because the blood is not moving fast enough through congested arteries."

Why This Happens

Why This Happens

High blood pressure in Aajonus's framework falls primarily under Terrain Theory and Cooked Food Consequences, with secondary elements in Detoxification and Sovereignty.

  • Terrain Theory: The body creates high blood pressure as an intelligent, adaptive response to the state of the internal terrain, hardened arteries, excess weight, plaque accumulation. The terrain is compromised; the body compensates. This is the body working correctly, not malfunctioning.
  • Cooked Food: The primary degradation of the arterial terrain is caused by cooked fats that cannot be properly processed. The inability to digest, assimilate, and utilize cooked fats leads to their accumulation in vessel walls, which forces the blood pressure upward.
  • Detoxification: In certain cases, high blood pressure during transition to the raw diet is part of the detoxification and healing process. As the body begins to loosen and mobilize plaque, it may need continued elevated pressure to push through material being cleared.
  • Sovereignty: The refusal to accept pharmaceutical measurements, the rejection of blood pressure medications, and the insistence on listening to symptoms rather than numbers places this condition squarely in the sovereignty framework. Aajonus taught: "Anytime you're given a measurement from anybody, don't believe it. You go by your symptoms. If you have symptoms, you have a problem."

Low blood pressure falls under Root Cause / Terrain Theory with connections to How to Eat, specifically the inadequacy of vegetarian, fruitarian, and grain-based diets to sustain sufficient circulatory force.

Symptoms Reframed

Symptoms Reframed

High Blood Pressure, Symptoms Reframed

The Elevated Reading Itself

Aajonus reframed the high reading not as a disease marker but as a sign that the body is compensating correctly. He said explicitly: "Enjoy your high blood pressure." A reading of 160–170 systolic was, in his view, the body doing what it needed to do. He cited a study of 45,000 people over 8 years from England (he referenced this on multiple occasions, with slight variation in the numbers of participants, also citing 11,000–12,000, 48,000, and 57,000–54,000 in different talks) showing that people with 160–170 systolic pressure had almost no heart attacks, while those in the 110–120 range (the medicated range) had all the heart attacks.

Heart Pounding / Racing Heart

He described a client whose heart was racing at 170–190 beats per minute with blood pressure up to 250 and cholesterol at 675, and told the audience this was "absolute bullshit" to fear. He referenced an Olympic basketball player in his 80s with cholesterol of 675 and 672 who still outplayed teenagers.

Anxiety, Racing Heart, Irregular Heartbeat During Detox

He described a patient with an irregular heartbeat that had lasted six months, was being told by everyone she was going to die. He did not view this as a crisis but as a detoxification process.

High Blood Pressure Headache

He acknowledged that high blood pressure (often caused by salt) does produce a specific type of headache. However, he addressed this not with blood pressure medication but with specific food remedies (see Food Protocol below).

The Fear of Aneurysm and Stroke

Medical rhetoric holds that high blood pressure causes aneurysms, strokes, and brain attacks. Aajonus reframed this: strokes happen during detoxification when clots break loose from arterial walls. The high blood pressure is not the cause of the clot; rather, it is the force that was keeping blood moving past the plaque. When medication lowers the pressure, blood slows, and the risk of a clot forming increases, not decreases.

He stated: "High blood pressure and high blood velocity do not cause strokes or heart attacks."

He discussed a client named Jacob who was thought to have had a stroke during what Aajonus believed was a detoxification event: "Any paralysis is a break in the flow of neurological transmissions from the brain to the body, whether caused by a clot that breaks off from a wall during detoxification or the temporary shutdown during detoxification."

The Measurement as a Tool of Control

He stated: "All of those [measurements] are designed to get you to take medication. 30 years ago, well, 60 years ago, the high blood pressure was much higher than it is now, before it was so-called dangerous."

Low Blood Pressure, Symptoms Reframed

Weakness, Limpness

He said people on blood pressure medications become "like a limp noodle." This is the direct result of artificially lowered blood pressure.

Paranoia and Fear

Aajonus linked low blood pressure directly to paranoia: "An exaggerated fear that someone, something, or life in general is going to destroy you... The physiological cause is low blood pressure." He treated paranoia as a symptom of insufficient blood pressure/circulation rather than a psychological disorder.

He described treating a character named Jeff in a hospital setting: "Your blood-pressure is too low. Open your mouth and eat this. The danger you are feeling will pass." And: "The hospital personnel are not purposely trying to kill you. They simply don't understand the subtle disasters that lowering your blood-pressure causes."

Dizziness Upon Standing

He described this as a sign of low blood pressure and low blood sugar: "Stand up too fast with too low blood sugar and you'll get dizzy. Even black out."

Blackouts

He described blacking out 6–8 times per day during a period of poor diet and low blood pressure, and linked blackouts to insufficient blood pressure and blood sugar.

White Skin Tone / Poor Capillary Refill

He described pressing on skin that "comes up white" as indicating poor circulation and low blood pressure, noting this was typical of vegetarians.

Heart Attacks

He repeatedly stated that heart attacks occur during periods of low blood pressure, not high. He said: "Many heart attacks occur during times of low blood pressure and low cholesterol levels." This was one of his most emphatic reversals of conventional medical teaching.

Food Protocol

Food Protocol

For High Blood Pressure, To Lower It When the Body No Longer Needs It

Aajonus's approach was first to determine whether the high blood pressure was truly needed or whether the body simply lacked the nutrients to lower it. He offered a test protocol: eat grapefruit and observe the response. If the blood pressure comes down, the body lacked the nutrients to lower it. If it does not come down, the body needs the high blood pressure and it should be left alone.

Fresh Raw Grapefruit or Fresh Raw Grapefruit Juice

  • "Fresh raw grapefruit or fresh raw grapefruit juice lowers blood pressure."
  • "One half of a grapefruit may be adequate, but some people may need more."
  • Protocol: "I suggest that you eat half of a grapefruit daily for 10 days. If that brings it down, then you simply lacked nutrients to lower blood pressure."
  • "If eating grapefruit does not help your body lower blood pressure, then your body needs high blood pressure."
  • Repeated in the Q&A context: "A half to a whole grapefruit normally resolves high blood pressure."
  • In the case of a mother with blocked arteries: "You may use grapefruit to lower blood pressure but if her veins are clogged that much, it is likely that her blood pressure will remain high; SHE NEEDS HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE because it is part of the remedy."

Fresh Raw Cucumbers or Fresh Raw Cucumber Juice

  • "Eating raw cucumbers or fresh raw cucumber juice helps soothe stretched arteries, veins, capillaries and nerves."
  • This is specifically for the comfort and recovery of arterial tissue that has been under sustained pressure.

Fresh Raw Garlic

  • "Eating fresh raw garlic helps stabilize high or low blood pressure.", Note this is cited for BOTH high and low, not just one.
  • "Fresh raw garlic, or fresh raw onions, or fresh raw hot peppers raises blood pressure.", This is cited specifically for LOW blood pressure.
  • "A small amount of any of those is usually adequate, although some people will need to eat substantial amounts.", This refers to the use for low blood pressure.
  • He also cited garlic for removing paranoia caused by low blood pressure: "Eating the Nut Formula or fresh raw garlic with a cooked starch and/or raw meat usually raises blood pressure within minutes and dissolves paranoia within 40 minutes."
  • He noted a limitation: "If drugs are continued, garlic has a limited effect on raising blood pressure and removing paranoia."

For High Blood Pressure, Treating the Underlying Cause: Thinning the Blood and Dissolving Plaque

For cases involving blocked arteries and high blood pressure, he provided a specific protocol to thin the blood and begin dissolving plaque, which would eventually allow the body to reduce the blood pressure on its own as the obstruction cleared.

Raw Apple Cider Vinegar with Unheated Honey in Sparkling Mineral Water:

  • "1 tablespoon of raw apple cider vinegar with 3 tablespoons of unheated honey, mixed together and poured into 2½ oz of naturally sparkling mineral water"
  • Timing: "3 times daily between 6–8 AM, 1–3 PM and 9–11 PM"
  • Duration: "That much vinegar should be consumed for only 3 months, 5 days weekly."
  • After 3 months: "vinegar should be reduced to twice daily for another 3 months."
  • Long term: "I suggest that she consume 1T of vinegar once daily for the rest of her life."
  • Mechanism: "The high blood pressure will propel the vinegar and honey through the veins to begin dissolving the plaque."

He also noted the role of clay and vinegar in his own arterial cleaning: "This last year, I started eating more vinegar on a regular basis and the clay, sometimes together. And I went two or three weeks ago, carotid artery, because they always send me backups... I hadn't cleaned it. So for the last year, I started eating more vinegar..."

Raw Eggs, Suggested for Arterial Cases

  • "I suggest she eat lots of eggs.", Said in the context of a mother with blocked arteries and high blood pressure.

Raw Fats, For Hypertension

  • "Eating plenty of raw fats with raw fresh tomatoes, eating other raw foods, especially unheated honey, and following the suggestions for high blood pressure, alleviate hypertension."
  • Raw fats are specifically needed to address the underlying inability to digest and process cooked fats, the fundamental cause of arterial hardening.
For Low Blood Pressure, To Raise It

Fresh Raw Garlic

  • Primary food to raise blood pressure: "Fresh raw garlic, or fresh raw onions, or fresh raw hot peppers raises blood pressure."
  • "A small amount of any of those is usually adequate, although some people will need to eat substantial amounts."
  • Time to effect for paranoia relief: "dissolves paranoia within 40 minutes."
  • Blood pressure effect: "usually raises blood pressure within minutes."

Fresh Raw Onions

  • Cited alongside garlic as a food that raises blood pressure.

Fresh Raw Hot Peppers

  • Cited alongside garlic and onions as a food that raises blood pressure.

The Nut Formula

  • "Eating the Nut Formula or fresh raw garlic with a cooked starch and/or raw meat usually raises blood pressure within minutes."

Raw Meat

  • Cited as part of the protocol for raising blood pressure when paranoia is present: "fresh raw garlic with a cooked starch and/or raw meat."
  • More broadly, meat and fat together are the foundational recommendation for people with low blood pressure, as low blood pressure is associated with protein deficiency and inadequate diet (vegetarianism, fruitarianism).

High Blood Pressure Headache Relief Formula

For the specific symptom of a high-blood-pressure-caused headache (most often from salt):

  • "Mix 2 ounces of naturally sparkling water with 2 tablespoons of unheated honey and the juice of 1 lemon."
  • "Add 6 ounces more of naturally sparkling water and drink."
  • "Usually, that relieves this headache in 20–40 minutes."

Low Blood Circulation Headache Relief Formula

For the headache that accompanies sluggishness (low blood pressure):

  • "Mix 2 ounces of naturally sparkling water with 2 tablespoons of unheated honey."
  • "Add 6 ounces more of naturally sparkling water and drink."
  • "Usually, that relieves this headache in 20–40 minutes."
For High Blood Pressure During Transition to Primal Diet

He addressed a person transitioning to the raw diet for 3–4 weeks who was experiencing high blood pressure and thick-feeling blood: "High blood pressure should be tolerated." He affirmed this was acceptable, even appropriate during the transition, and recommended the grapefruit test: half a grapefruit daily for 10 days to determine whether it was nutrient-related or genuinely needed.

Raw Tomatoes for Hypertension
  • "Eating plenty of raw fats with raw fresh tomatoes, eating other raw foods, especially unheated honey, and following the suggestions for high blood pressure, alleviate hypertension."
For Overweight Individuals with High Blood Pressure, The Egg Diet

Aajonus recommended a specific diet for overweight individuals whose high blood pressure was caused by excess weight:

  • "That egg diet I talked about? With meat, a cup of meat, somewhere around 7 o'clock in the evening, a cup of milk per day, a cup of milk at night."
  • Duration: "For about 4 months, you'll lose probably about 60 pounds."
  • He also recommended: "look under lymphatic congestion and do the lymphatic bath."
  • After the bath: "bundle up with heavy clothes and you take a snail walk for about 45 minutes. And that'll clear that."
  • Rationale: "The egg should give you all the nutrients that you need to start moving your lymph."

---

What to Avoid

What to Avoid

  • i
    Blood Pressure Medications

  • ii

This is Aajonus's most emphatic avoidance recommendation. He stated repeatedly and at length that blood pressure medications are more dangerous than the high blood pressure they suppress:

  • iii

    - "The pills are more damaging than the high blood pressure. The blood pressure is high for a good reason." - "Whether he gets on the diet 100% or not, the pills could cause neurological toxicity that can cause the problem he now faces." - He directed people to research medications at rxlist.com to see the pharmaceutical's own documentation of side effects. - He described the consequence of blood pressure medication leading to slowed blood flow: "you're likely to cause clots because the blood is not moving fast enough through congested arteries." - He warned that a person who has been on blood pressure medications and then tries to exercise could face cardiac arrest: "Those veins aren't wide enough, it could collapse or cause a spasm in the heart. And it's a Charlie Oreson heart, that's it. You're dead."

  • iv
If Coming Off Medications, Reduction Protocol

  • v

He did not recommend stopping blood pressure medication abruptly:

  • vi

    - "High blood-pressure medications should normally be reduced over a two-week period. I suggest reducing it by half every five days until eliminated."

  • vii
    Salt

  • viii

    - Salt is identified as a primary cause of high-blood-pressure headaches. - He said: "The common headache is from either high blood pressure (most often caused by eating salt)." - He described chemically-made carbonated water as causing headaches by "pulling salts out into your body from the body causing high blood pressure."

  • ix
Garlic and Other Spices, In Excess

  • x

He noted: "If you have high blood pressure that is not disease-oriented from eating too much garlic or other spices, eating some grapefruit will provide the nutrients for your body to lower blood pressure." This implies that excess garlic or spices can elevate blood pressure beyond what the body requires.

  • xi
    Suppression with Homeopathy

  • xii

He stated: "When you have high blood pressure and you slow blood pressure with medication or homeopathy, you're likely to cause clots." Homeopathy was specifically named alongside pharmaceutical drugs as something that can dangerously reduce blood pressure.

  • xiii
    Cooked Fats

  • xiv

The underlying cause of arterial hardening and plaque that necessitates high blood pressure is the consumption of cooked fats. He said hypertension is "mainly caused by the lack of enzyme-mutations to digest, assimilate, and utilize cooked fats." Avoiding cooked fats and transitioning to raw fats addresses the root cause.

  • xv
    Fruit Feasts / Fasting

  • xvi

He said: "A fruit feast (fast) is counterproductive, especially during fall and winter." In the context of someone with high blood pressure trying to address their condition, fasting or fruit feasts do not support the body's healing needs. "Sugars, natural or not, clump together when dried."

  • xvii
    CAT Scans During Detox

  • xviii

He cautioned that CAT scans could cause "irreversible brain scarring" during a brain detox event. He advocated instead for ultrasound to look for brain scarring that might indicate stroke.

  • xix
    Continuing Drugs

  • xx

He noted: "If drugs are continued, garlic has a limited effect on raising blood pressure and removing paranoia." The drugs interfere with the ability of food to correct the low blood pressure.

  • xxi
    Vegetarianism / Fruitarianism

  • xxii

These diets consistently produce low blood pressure and inadequate protein intake, which Aajonus viewed as the dietary root of the problem.

  • xxiii
    Dried Fruit / No Liquid

  • xxiv

He described a situation where dried fruit and no liquid contributed to complications: "Sugars, natural or not, clump together when dried." This creates its own blood flow problems distinct from but related to blood pressure issues.

  • xxv

Recovery Timeline

Recovery Timeline

High Blood Pressure

The recovery timeline for high blood pressure depends entirely on the underlying cause and how much of the diet is followed.

Grapefruit Test, 10 Days

He said: "I suggest that you eat half of a grapefruit daily for 10 days. If that brings it down, then you simply lacked nutrients to lower blood pressure." This is the shortest-term indicator, 10 days to assess whether nutrition alone is sufficient.

Arterial Cleaning with Vinegar/Honey Protocol, 6+ Months

For cases involving actual plaque in arteries:

  • First phase: full dose (1 tablespoon vinegar, 3 tablespoons honey, 2.5 oz sparkling mineral water, 3 times daily) for 3 months, 5 days per week.
  • Second phase: twice daily for another 3 months.
  • Maintenance: once daily for the rest of life.

This is a minimum 6-month protocol for the active treatment phase, with lifelong maintenance.

His Own Arterial Timeline

Aajonus described having plaque on his right carotid artery since age 12. He went approximately 12 years without actively trying to clean it, monitoring it annually. It was only in the year before the talk that he began the vinegar and clay protocol, and within that year he had measurable results. He had the tests: "PSV 168 cm/sec and EDV 49 cm/sec in the tests of 2/24/2007, showing that as I continued to eat my Primal Diet, it helped my body gradually remove plaque."

This illustrates that even with optimal diet, arterial cleaning can take years to decades.

Diet 100% for Arterial Cases

For someone with significantly blocked arteries: "For his condition, I don't think he should do anything less than 100% until his arteries are clean enough." He described a person at 85% diet compliance for 2.5 years as insufficient for their level of arterial blockage.

Overweight-Related High Blood Pressure, The Egg Diet

  • Timeline: approximately 4 months on the egg diet to lose approximately 60 pounds.
  • As weight is lost, the mechanical pressure on veins decreases and the need for elevated blood pressure diminishes.

Long-term High Blood Pressure for Mid-Life Adults

He stated plainly: "High blood pressure is important for many people over mid-forties and they may have high blood pressure for the rest of their lives because they do not care for themselves enough to make necessary changes in diet and environment." This suggests that for many people, depending on what changes they are willing to make, high blood pressure may persist, and he framed this as acceptable, not as a failure.

Blood Pressure Medication Reduction, 2 Weeks

He specified: "High blood-pressure medications should normally be reduced over a two-week period. I suggest reducing it by half every five days until eliminated." This is a 10-day to 14-day active reduction protocol.

Testimonial, 50-Point Drop in 9 Months

One person shared: "My doctor informed me that my blood pressure dropped a total of 50, that's right, fifty points in less than nine months. It's down to that of an 18-year-old. I am 47!!", This was attributed to the raw diet, specifically dairy and fish taken in the context of the Primal Diet.

Questions Aajonus Answered

Questions Aajonus Answered

  • Q: I'm transitioning into the raw diet (3–4 weeks in), doing eggs and some other things, and I'm having some high blood pressure. It's almost like my blood gets thicker., Clarice

Aajonus: "High blood pressure should be tolerated. High blood pressure is very necessary for most people who have either arterial congestion, or are overweight, or subject to certain toxins, including house molds. Since you are not overweight, you probably have congested arteries or something is toxic in your home or office. High blood pressure makes blood move through our bodies properly when something interferes with or limits circulation. When you have high blood pressure and you slow blood pressure with medication or homeopathy, you're likely to cause clots because the blood is not moving fast enough through congested arteries. Excessive pressure on the blood stream from obesity requires high blood pressure to properly move the blood. Enjoy your high blood pressure. If you have high blood pressure that is not disease-oriented from eating too much garlic or other spices, eating some grapefruit will provide the nutrients for your body to lower blood pressure. I suggest that you eat half of a grapefruit daily for 10 days. If that brings it down, then you simply lacked nutrients to lower blood pressure. If eating grapefruit does not help your body lower blood pressure, then your body needs high blood pressure. I think it's good for everyone to have high blood pressure for a while at times. High blood pressure is important for many people over mid-forties and they may have high blood pressure for the rest of their lives because they do not care for themselves enough to make necessary changes in diet and environment."

    ---

  • Q: Is it fine for Jacob to stop his blood pressure medication all at once and suddenly, and not need to do the gentle bit-by-bit approach the doctors always talk about to come off drugs?, (Re: High Blood Pressure Medication, May 11, 2001)

Aajonus: "High blood-pressure medications should normally be reduced over a two-week period. I suggest reducing it by half every five days until eliminated."

    ---

  • Q: Jacob's church community and doctors feel his problem stems from the fact that he does not take his high blood pressure medication and that high blood pressure causes strokes. Can you speak to them and explain why high blood pressure is good for him?

Aajonus: "I spoke with the person. He is convinced from medical rhetoric that high blood pressure is dangerous and leads to strokes. I cautioned him that the scan could cause irreversible brain scarring and asked him to seek an ultrasound to look for brain scarring that might indicate a stroke, rather than a scan. He seemed very strong in his resolve to do as the doctors want. I am sorry that I could not do more. As far as his symptoms reflecting MS, it is highly unlikely, because MS rears its head via atrophy of nerves, then muscle deterioration. Time will tell."

(Earlier, on the underlying condition of the paralysis:) "Any paralysis is a break in the flow of neurological transmissions from the brain to the body, whether caused by a clot that breaks off from a wall during detoxification or the temporary shutdown during detoxification. Regardless, the only proper way to address the condition is to nourish the body so that it may continue to detoxify the brain and properly heal."

    ---

  • Q: He is convinced his symptoms are from high blood pressure and has not been taking his blood pressure medication consistently. He feels it is pressure and stress. How can he get off those high blood pressure pills safely forever? He is on the diet 85% and has been for 2½ years.

Aajonus: "The pills are more damaging than the high blood pressure. The blood pressure is high for a good reason. For his condition, I don't think he should do anything less than 100% until his arteries are clean enough. Whether he gets on the diet 100% or not, the pills could cause neurological toxicity that can cause the problem he now faces. Go to www.rxlist.com and enter the medication that he is ingesting and [read the warnings]."

    ---

  • Q: There is no clogging on the brain, but they want to do a neurological test tomorrow. Do you really feel it is from the fruit fast of dried fruit and no liquid, not his high blood pressure or stress?

Aajonus: "Sugars, natural or not, clump together when dried. High blood pressure is necessary for people with plaquing in or on the arteries. It stretches the arteries. If they weren't stretched, very little blood would pass through them."

    ---

  • Q: A half to a whole grapefruit normally resolves high blood pressure. How much does he follow the diet?

Aajonus: "As I mentioned, a fruit feast (fast) is counterproductive, especially during fall and winter."

  • Q: My mother of 82 just had a heart attack. She has 1 100% blocked artery, 1 artery blocked 90% with a stent, and 1 artery 60% blocked with 2 stents. The doctor is insisting on Plavix, aspirin, and 2 blood pressure medications. What can she do to keep her blood running thin naturally and prevent clotting? Will grapefruit keep her blood pressure in line?

Aajonus: "It's sad to learn about your mother's condition. Consider that rationale of the doctors. If you had blocked arteries and the only way you could get blood to circulate was to develop high blood pressure, wouldn't high blood pressure be appropriate? Doctors make no sense. To thin the blood, I suggest that your mother consume 1 tablespoon of raw apple cider vinegar with 3 tablespoons of unheated honey, mixed together and poured into 2½ ozs of naturally sparkling mineral water, 3 times daily between 6–8 AM, 1–3 PM and 9–11 PM. That much vinegar should be consumed for only 3 months, 5 days weekly. After 3 months, vinegar should be reduced to twice daily for another 3 months. Finally, I suggest that she consume 1T of vinegar once daily for the rest of her life. You may use grapefruit to lower blood pressure but if her veins are clogged that much, it is likely that her blood pressure will remain high; SHE NEEDS HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE because it is part of the remedy. The high blood pressure will propel the vinegar and honey through the veins to begin dissolving the plaque. I suggest she eat lots of eggs."

  • Q: (Seminar attendee, overweight) I'd like to go down 60 pounds. This lymphatic congestion, and my blood pressure is high... What should I do?

Aajonus: "People who have high blood pressure have high blood pressure for a reason. Either their veins are going to collapse or they've got too much weight and they need to push to make the pressure higher. You're just going to be like a limp noodle when you have to take those things. You know, it's better to have the high blood pressure. Have everything moving. The best way off is to start eating that egg diet. That egg diet I talked about? With meat, a cup of meat, somewhere around 7 o'clock in the evening, a cup of milk per day, a cup of milk at night. That's the diet you need to do. For about 4 months, you'll lose probably about 60 pounds."

  • Q: If you have a condition that leads to high blood pressure, what would you take to address congestive arteries?

Aajonus: (After confirming that high blood pressure is what you want if you have congestive arteries:) He began to move on to other questions, but the inquiry was raised in the context of his broader teaching that you do not suppress the high blood pressure, you address the congestion through diet, vinegar, eggs, and raw foods.

  • Q: (Seminar attendee with hypertension, I never had salt. Does that increase water retention?)

Aajonus: "Absolutely." [Then examining the person's eyes:] "Well, there's no salivary. So, you probably have the hypertension because you have overactive testes and overactive adrenals. It's just the overactive. Is that like a malfunction? Or is that like a natural thing? That can be a natural thing for people. Usually, if they have other glands working properly, that'll mean they're oversexed."

  • Q: Jeff in the hospital, terrified, low blood pressure

Aajonus (speaking to Jeff): "I'm not going to let them kill you. I think the fear you feel is biological. Your blood-pressure is too low. Open your mouth and eat this. The danger you are feeling will pass. Chew or mix it around in your mouth so saliva will thin it. It will be easier to swallow. Are you conscious enough to do all of this without me talking you through it?" ... "The hospital personnel are not purposely trying to kill you. They simply don't understand the subtle disasters that lowering your blood-pressure causes. What they normally do is counter danger-symptoms of fear and panic with a drug that'll dope you."

  • Q: (On the study results), The people with 160–170 blood pressure had no heart attacks and those with 110–120 had all the heart attacks. Why didn't that research get more press?

Aajonus: "Nope. So you have to forget any measurement from the pharmaceutical industry. You look for symptoms." And separately: "Do you know how much media time I got? One day. One day media time. And it was wiped out. Because it doesn't make money. All this time, everybody's believed the medical, the pharmaceutical community, high blood pressure is bad, will cause heart attacks, will cause aneurysms, will cause strokes and all of that. And out of those tests that came out, that high blood pressure was the lifesaver."

  • Q: (On blood pressure as a measurement generally), Should I worry about my blood pressure numbers?

Aajonus: "So never look at your measurements... Anytime you're given a measurement from anybody, don't believe it. You go by your symptoms. If you have symptoms, you have a problem... Blood pressure is the same thing. Let's say if you're 500 pounds, your blood pressure should be very, very high. It should be really high. If you have clogged arteries or veins, you better have high blood pressure to get the blood working through the system or the blood's not going to get to your body. And it's going to clog and even coagulate. So you've got to move it through faster if you've got a lot of pressure on your veins from weight or you've got some kind of block in your arterial and venous capillaries."

  • On His Own Blood Pressure History

Aajonus shared his own blood pressure readings across different phases of his life as context:

    - Before the good raw diet: "about 130 over 97 to 100" - As a fruitarian: "about 110 to 109 over 67. Very low blood pressure." - As a vegetarian (early): approximately "ninety-two over sixty" with pulse rate "between sixty-two and forty" - He described being able to slow his heart through pranayama practice during the fruitarian period: "one breath every five minutes," able to stop his heart from beating, a state he presented not with pride but as an indicator of how dangerously low his vital signs had dropped during that phase.
